Mario speed runner really are crazy to find the smallest details to prove that a run know one cares about anymore is in fact fake.

If any run from a speedrunner is ever found to be spliced or cheated, ALL their runs should automatically be removed!

reading the comments made me remember that one time a solar flare or whatever hit only a single thing in someone's mario 64 speedrun causing him to just reach the top of a level instantly, which put the speedrun community into utter shambles

8:09 this reminds me of a lil thought experiment from a teacher's coding analogy we got a scenario where we had 2 "make sure carboard boxes in a small factory line werent empty". sooo we said stuff like "machine arm puts em on a balance, removes from line if too light" or "depth scanner above them. machine arm removes empty ones" ...only for em to go "place a fan in its direction so it blows away the empty 1s"........ obvs, some stuff needs/benefits from complex ways. but aside that, there is a reason why priorize simplicity. (unless ur a mad hobbyst ofc. feel free 2 go wild👍)

while i dont have many things to say here one thing i do wish to say is that methods of detecting cheating should be kept secret as once someone knows how they are detected they can get around it and bypass it like any anti cheat in games once a hacker finds out what it is looking for to say they are cheating they can make it so the cheats they make dont raise the flag or make it so it raises false info to be checked

The cheaters should have the run moved to a different category or have a logo that shows their results have been tempered with and lowered the ranks to the bottom, all rank rules apply from perverse speed runs just add cheating drops you to the bottom. The name of the cheaters should be classified no matter what! The Nintendo police have already taken care of the problem.

I bet eventually there will be ai detection to compare multiple speedruns, against a proof of concept which could be used as a baseline, similar to how a tas can be used to work out the most optimal way to complete a game, in the least amount of time.
