I am so confused why is the led time saving ? if the cables were labeled and punched based on the label, then you would not need to trace each cable, for the customer dont they want the cables to go around an office or room sequentially. i hate when a 4 port plat has 46 74 13 and 33 dosent that look unprofessional?
@CableSupply
@CableSupply 14 күн бұрын
Good question, as a licensed low-voltage cable contractor what I have found is installing Jacks in a clockwise direction works well only when you have under 10 jacks in a small office. However, when you're doing a major install of hundreds of jacks (or anything more than 10 jacks) putting each jack in some sort of order does not work well. However using a tool called "the cable identifier" can save you about 30% labor or more. I have found that the customer would rather have a savings on their final invoice rather than have some sort of order. This way of cabling makes it patch panel centric not Jack centric. Check out my other videos on how to design network cabling, especially for large installations.

Hi, thanks for the video. I have a comment with a question. Something I found out after sharing my own diy cabling pulley system video, BICSI recommends a bending radius during installation of no less than 20 times the diameter of the cable, and a maximum tensile pulling force of 25 foot pounds. Afterward, with no tension, their bending radius minimum drops to 10 times the diameter. Of course, a manufacturer's instructions will always take precedence over BICSI's general recommendation. The pulleys you show appear small for their purpose, but have you ever noticed any data integrity problems after using them?
@CableSupply
@CableSupply 14 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for the question. I appreciate it. I have installed thousands of networks all over the country and I have never had a problem when using pulleys. The best thing about using the pulleys is that you do not have to use a lot of pulling force. Using pulleys also help for over long distances and turning corners.

Good video Jim! I have used DBAN to do a Department of Defense 7 pass data wipe at ADP Probusiness a payroll company back in 2005 before donating our decommissioned Compaq servers to a local non profit, it seems a shame that you rather destroy a hard drive rather then e-recycle them as they are still useful, however if the hard drive failed then I would take the platters apart and sand down the surface.

Thank you for your question. I could write a book on how to start an IT company. The way I started my company was with zero dollars. However, start with small installations and if you have enough for a box of cable and 20 jacks that's about all you need to get started. I started with less. I know it sounds crazy but that's what I did. However, if you have some resources, and can afford to buy a box of cable some jacks some tools then you are ahead of the game. If you're interested in running and starting a business check out my other KZfaq channel it is called "Entrepreneurs WITH Trucks. This channel talks about how to start and run a business.

To answer your question there are two reasons why I like the cheap inexpensive drywall saws. first of all working in a construction setting my tools, sometimes get up and walk away on your own. but secondly and more importantly, I like the cheap ones because they have the thinner blades that work best when you're using a pumpkin cut. I was planning to answer that question in the this video, but forgot to include it. I am grateful that you watch the video and your comment is fantastic. It helps me to explain what I should have explained in the video. The idea is thinner is better for this type of cut. If you remember, please subscribe.

Thank you for watching the video and thank you for your comments. I understand what you're saying I've been doing this for three decades. But there's not a lot of time on a one minute short to describe everything. This patch cord will fail shortly. when someone moves the cable once or twice, the cable will fail. The IT manager should have standards to prevent this type of installation. I am not trying to be precise here, but to be accurate. I do appreciate the fact that you watched the video and commented please subscribe.

Thank you for watching my channel video and commenting. That's true the doctors that I have known have always been very frugal. They have a lot of expenses with student loans and working for big corporations. It's not a field I would want to go into today however, it cost more to make a patch cord out of solid copper cable, rather than buy a patch cord that's made with stranded cable and has been tested with all the protections molded in. Please subscribe.

Yes, this is a handyman special. From my experience in managing and training Yes, this is a handyman special. From my experience in managing and training Mehdi technicians technicians over the years. There are some who enjoy making their own patch cords, but the time involved in making the patch cord is more than the cost of buying a new one. The new ones are tested and built with strain relief and other features that makes patchcords more resilient to wear. Thank you for watching the video and commenting. Please subscribe.
@roannisters5985
@roannisters5985 3 ай бұрын
all I see is that the strain relief has failed. but chances are the data will still work. and depending on the distance of the cable, it is usually easier to first run a cable and then add the connectors afterwards. that is usually easier than using a premade cable of which it is not always certain whether you have ordered the correct length. I speak here from my own experience of using these cables in the installation of security systems here in the Netherlands. So that means what I experience here could be quite different somewhere else.
@CableSupply
@CableSupply 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. The problem with using homemade patch cords is exactly what you see on the short video. another point is that it's made with solid wire which is really designed to be put behind a wall. professionally made patchcords use stranded wire, which means you can bend them, wiggle them yank on them, and they have a lot of durability. Homemade patchcords using solid wire is prone to failure. Please subscribe. Thanks

I work as a cabling and security technician, and I can't say I've ever seen that before. It's very normal to terminate your own patch cords, I've done it too many times to count. And most long distance cable runs are done this way, as it is easier to run a cable through conduit or small holes without the rj45 on the end. That being said, you're supposed to krimp down on the jacket of the cable, that's just straight on the pairs. I got no idea what was going through the person that terminated that's head
@CableSupply
@CableSupply 3 ай бұрын
Some of my technicians would love to do their own terminations, but I have found out that the time it takes to terminate a patch cord for a technician does not make it cost-effective. Plus, the failure rate is a lot higher for the homemade patch cords. Tech made patch cords are made using solid inside wire that has been designed not to be moved around once installed the solid wires often fatigue from bending and therefor fail. The failures of cheap patch cords for an installation company is very expensive! This is what we would call "go backs" would not only be expensive, but also hurt your reputation as an installer. Patch cords are so inexpensive that I would often buy packs of 30 patch cords and keep them in each of my trucks. all my trucks had blue patch cords and their cost was such that I could give them a way to customers for free. Thank you for watching the video and also thank you for your comment. I always ask commenters could you go back and subscribe it helps the channel and if you like my content, it's a form of thank you and an encouragement to make more videos.
