I successfully replaced both analog sticks on my xbox controller (not series x/s). I bought the cheaper solder kit with the helping hand stand, and the joystick replacements. I had zero soldering experience going into this, so I practiced with one controller I was willing to sacrifice if it didnt work. Luckily I was able to remove and replace the joysticks without burning the board. Although I didnt calibrate them like in the video, they worked very well suprisingly. If my controller ever gets drift again, I'll just use helder's analog stick drift fix and solder that into the controller.

Hi SOSS, nice video. I have a question: A month ago or so I started having issues with RB not always reacting when pressed, I had to press it more firmly. After some more time it basically stopped working entirely. So I ordered the switches and had a local electronics shop take apart and do the soldering bit since I myself had no experience and their fee wasn't too bad. However, after the job was complete both LB and RB switches no longer work... The shop claims that they had done it correctly, and that they even did measures with what I assume a multimeter and they did indeed see an electrical signal each time they pressed the switches. But plugged into a PC the bumpers register no presses, either in games or the gamepad tester... They claim they tested it both when it was disassembled, and when fully assembled but it just wouldn't show the bumpers being actuaded in any sofware. I myself cannot make them work either at my own PC at home. Everything else works as it should, except one mistake they've made, and that is the sync button can no longer be pressed... 😅 It's stiff as the rest of the plastic around it. Not sure if that matters to the bumpers but I just wanna throw that in there for your information. So what do you think? Are the switches not functioning, or have they messed up somewhere? I'm deeply frustrated by this, god damn Microcock and their desire to save a few pennies and screw over the customer.

I just bought a core in hopes it would feel the same and it doesnt. Idk what it is about the sticks or theres a little more delay in the controller... Not even input delay really its more like an acceleration delay... It feels like things register fine but I cant find any setting to help it feel more responsive. I might try playing witth all the controllers I have like this.

I just want to let people know that you don't need to replace button. All you need is some screws, knife and some isopropyl spirit. Disassambe controller and then find those bottons, then take a knife and cut off four plastic pimpls that holding metal on front of button. Take all stuf from button, clean button with spirir and that's it! Put a metal part back to button (maybe you need some glue to hold it there) and assemble controller. Do it once per year or two.

@@urbbs09 I wonder if a capacitor/diode fell off, or maybe some damage/short to the board somewhere. Sometimes the damage can be invisible. A "fix" may be to just disable it on the accessories app and program it to a paddle or button. Seems like it's not the joystick's fault if you've replaced it a few times.

@SOSSGAMING
@SOSSGAMING Ай бұрын
It's possible. It's a little tricky but you can actually test the switches with a multimeter (by testing continuity when pressed/not pressed) when it's not soldered in. Sounds like there could have been a solder bridge as well. Is there any damage or missing diode/capacitor that you can see?

Is it possible to put an eleite series joystick module in a standard xbox controller or ps5 or 4 controller?
@SOSSGAMING
@SOSSGAMING Ай бұрын
Standard not so sure because the elite series 2 joysticks are taller. If you modify the joystick to sit lower it should be fine. A Ps4 or 5 controller should work as long as you keep the same potentiometers in, as all xbox potentiometers use a lower range potentiometer, while playstations use higher range potentiometers. Hope that makes sense.

Ultra useful video. The main issue I had was to de-solder the switch. Using the soldering iron made nothing (we were 2, on using the iron the other one pulling the pin .. well trying to!). In the end I cut it out and had to drill. It worked but it was ugly. Changing the joypad on a standard Xbone controller was much easier in comparison.

@@savvykjon I think you should still be able to heat up that hole and push the broken piece out a bit with the soldering iron tip (add solder if needed) then use tweezers to take it out while the solder is melted. Then get the solder out like normal. Use braided wick and/or solder sucker and/or desoldering iron to remove the solder. Please don't drill! 😅 Watch some other KZfaq videos on soldering/removing solder if you need. Lot of helpful people out there.

Sorry about that.
