I have a few old digital cameras as a collection the newest being around 10 years old and the oldest at 21 years old. My favorite is the oldest one an HP Photosmart 935 with 5.3mp and a 3x optical Pentax zoom lens. It's pretty temperamental as it requires 2gb or less SD cards to use it. However it takes beautiful photographs in proper light. It also produces nice little 4x6 prints. I baby it.

For me its the C340 Easy Share, 2006 5MP, 3x zoom. The menu system is excellent and on 4x6 prints, its not much distinguishable from my most modern camera, when the light is just so.

I am the person who told that two camera lady about this camera. She bought one within 24 hrs. It's interesting how things spread ... I have used these cameras ever since they came out. The design is by Porsche, the operating system is by Apple, the sensor by Kodak. I think this was the first digital camera to ever be able to replace the Leica M2. I replaced mine with one. Because of the leaf shutter one can hold this down to stupid shutter speeds. The biggest secret about this camera is shooting hand held against a lamp post at night in b mode at 5-30 seconds - you will not believe the results - try it. no other camera I ever found can do that. I enjoyed your review. Check my history of photography video series on the Cameras of the GDR. All the best, Adam

@@aurorahiraeth5896 If you search Adam Essene Flikr there are over 200 photos taken with this camera. Even today I am amazed at their quality. I am currently experimenting with a 4 megapixel Olympus E10 and will eventually post a comparison video against larger megapixel cameras. I like the results so far, in Black and White.

Hello Adam! The nightshots of this camera are amazing! I tried it because of your recommendation and gosh this camera is wonderful! I loved to shoot Xpan back in the days with my old Praktica mtl 5 and it's cool how the black and white of this camera looks like Xpan... ❤ Thanks mate and greetings from Germany

@@DunkelRuhrOutdoors Thanks. I discovered the night stuff by accident really - the longer the exposer the more amazing the results were. One seems to get past the point where camera shake matters. I need to do more black and white on this camera soon, to compare it with 4 megapixel Olympus E10. Will be interesting to see how it holds up to the bigger sensor. Coming soon on my channel.

hey, I recently picked up the DC4800, but when you talk about "b mode," do you mean the "P mode," and you set the "long exposure" mode in the menu under the shutter settings?

Good talk, man. I like film too - grew up with film - but i can't afford to blow off rolls of film. What i do instead is shoot first with an Olympus E-300 (8MP Kodak CCD), and i shoot it on M with good vintage M42 glass. So this operation gives me a cheap way to set up - play with - shots that i can then take on my Spotmatic. Being a DSLR, the E-300 is ideal for this, except the LCD is tiny and everything has to be done through a fairly dingy OVF. The E-500 is better, and the E-400 (10MP CCD) maybe better still. You also have to compensate for the crop-factor, which means carrying a different lens for the Spot - so i'll put a fast 28 on the E-300 and a 55 on the Spot, or often an 18-180 on the 300 and carry a bag of primes for the Pentax. Whatever - it means i can afford to shoot film and it (almost) guarantees a minimal waste of frames on the roll. Go well.

The E-300 is on my radar. I just acquired a Canon 5D Classic. Hope to do a review on that one soon. But if I come across a E-300 or 500 it snag it. How does it do in the highlights?

@@aurorahiraeth5896 Hello. I've had my 300 almost 20 years, and I'm about to buy another for 'cover'. As things have moved on, i've come to appreciate it for just and only what it can do - it's my 'treat' to shoot. It has the battery grip which makes it really comfortable in my hand. I actually have never shot it with any pro-grade 4/3 glass, but I will when time allows. It's not a low-light thing and the dynamic range doesn't compare with my E5 (for instance) or 620. Great for ICM and B&W in good conditions or when you don't mind losing detail in shadows or highlights. It's a camera that probably rewards most if you think creatively about its use. I will never get rid of it.

Sorry but this makes no sense. If you have to edit to have a "film alike look", aka use a filter, you don't have a "film look camera". Film photography literally means NOT editing. You can make any photo look like film.

Thanks for your thoughts on this camera. As an official Kodakian (100+ in my collection and growing!) I can say that this was/is a much different model than what Kodak had released before it. The battery was odd but both Fuji and Toshiba were also using it. Many people complained about how noisy they are. I have 3 of these and, just like yours, they are prone to cracking around the screen. They are also bad to develope a problem with crashing when using LiveView and zooming. Kodak has always had a problem with buffering for the most part. You just learn to take a little more time and enjoy the shoot! The last one I got included everything along with the lens tube adapter, accessory lenses and close up filters.

One thing I did with mine is once I had the settings I wanted I placed Gaff tape over the screen so mentally I truly shoot it like a 35mm P&S. I stopped looking at the screen after every shot. I just take another photo if I “feel” that I needed a second take. I actually do that to a lot of my cameras higher end to lower end cameras. Some reason removing the instinct to look at the lcd after every shot removed some stress that I didn’t realize I had.

I tested 2gb, 1gb, 256mb, 128mb and a Kodak 64mb CF card. It doesn't detect any of the cards aside the Kodak one which gets stuck at the end of the formatting process and doesn't end. I started to think is a problem with my camera but I heard stories like this with the DC4800, even 20 years ago.
