I wrapped the parachute too much on a slow fold and the parachute didn’t even deploy lol Luckily I was only using an A8-3 engine and the rocket wasn’t that high up. I think I’ll launch it again for 4th of July

I can't believe Estes has a rocket named Amazon. I've been ordering from Estes since 1972. It's sad to see them go that low. But I did check on the actual Estes site, and they have no such rocket listed. I strongly suggest ordering directly from Estes, so Amazon done not make anything off of it. And your package will not likely be smashed up. If you are a beginner, I recommend the Alpha III launch set. Less than a year after I started, I tossed the Estes launch pad and controller, and built my own. I made both the pad and controller out of metal, using commercial grade electrical parts.

I built several launch controllers back when Radio Shack was still around. I no longer have a source for parts. I've also built many launch pads, many out of office chair bases, automotive jackstands, mirror mount CB antenna brackets, etc. I use drill chucks to hold the launch rod. All metal, no plastic. They are real hobby grade stuff, not cheap toys like Estes and even AeroTech sells.

Amazing how things have changed. Amazon? Really? I got started in model rocketry back in the very early '70s, about age 10. I had an Estes catalog. An actual paper catalog. I sent off so many orders (money orders in stamped envelopes) to Penrose, CO. Believe it or not, you can still order directly from Estes Industries, still in Penrose, CO, though you now have to do it online. I suggest ordering from them instead of the Amazon scammers.

I purchased the program on May 5th and I can't see that I have gotten the log-in information for the course e-mailed as yet. Can you help? I sent an e-mail with the transaction number. Thanks! Anxious to get started!!!

You took me back to my childhood in the 70’s I swear I had that same model rocket among 3 or 4 I remember having My hardware was stock from the big toy store at the mall though Thank you dear mother ❤

Hey I have a question. Is this thing reusable
@mplsmark2222 ай бұрын
Do you mean the rocket? Of course it’s reusable. I suspect there are model rockets that have flown hundreds of times. The engines are not reusable however.

I am a beginner about model rockets. I have no knowledge on these things. Can ı use this launch controller for any brand of model rocket kits? And how does this launch controller connect to model rocket kits? Please help me on this
@mandystarmer84724 ай бұрын
I have all of the rockets and I am doing this with 27 students who will be launching in groups. So at the most, I will be launching 8 rockets. I just need the rest of the materials. I see the link to the engines and the wadding, but I do not know what else I need because I do not want to buy the wrong launch pad. Please advise. :)

Maybe try contacting the company instead of a several year old video on KZfaq. Come on teach, it's not rocket science 😉

Ok one minute in and I’m confused about the RTF Ready to Fly comment but then .. “but.. you’ll need engines, launch controllers and launch pad” 😬
@Muzly4 ай бұрын
I don't know about the Athena kit, but the other RTF kit I bought comes with EVERYTHING you need, including launch pad, wadding, motors and igniter. It's literally all you need to fly a rocket.
@mplsmark2222 ай бұрын
RTF just means the rocket is fully assembled, or mostly assembled, decorated with decals and it can save hours of time.

If you like the Estes A8-3, try the Estes Mini Motor A10-3T with Estes 13mm to 18mm adapter. You get 1 more motor in a pack of 4 motors.

I am interested in buying into the video series. I am doing a clustered launch and i want to ensure a strong voltage to the rocket and i want to use a motorcycle battery or small car battery as my voltage source does your videos include information on making this possible ?

How does this set cost the exact same as just the launch pad+controller? There’s no reason to buy the pad separately because this costs the same, and has 2 bonus rockets

Back when I was flying rockets I would cut a round hole in the center of the parachute just like real parachutes have. This would stop the parachute from swinging like a pendulum, and also allow for a straighter descent since it's not swinging all over the place.

It was a great video. Seriously. Until it became an ad. I support Capitalism, it made our country great once. But really felt like it was a misleading video as you didn't show at all how to build the launch controller as I felt the title implied. Implied being the key word here; nothing in it says that you actually show how to build one of those awesome looking controllers. Thanks anyways.

Thank goodness for this video. I would have used the instructions, but I had to cut up the entire thing for the build 🤷♂️

BUT HOW WILL THE CONE EJECT AND LET THE PARACHUTE OUT
@longbowshooter52916 ай бұрын
After the engine burns out there's a short delay and then an ejection charge goes off to blow the nose cone off which pulls the chute out.

That ejection charge makes a strong case for kevlar. No wonder i lost so many chutes and birds back in the '70s. I'd to see a side-by-side of 2 boosters, same burn time, bu in different classes.

I’m currently working on FFG Star Wars TTRPG. Purchasing the sourcebooks. Which is getting kinda hard to find. Just missing three. After that I’ll be back to building flying model rockets. Just need some ideas. I’m thinking bout build my own flying model rocket launch controller out of a pelican case. But I need a bigger case. I want make it with voice authorization. Like how then “Admiral” kick set the self destruct sequence on the Enterprise A 1701. Instead it’s Computer this is master launch controller ______ request security access. Computer set auto launch/kill launch. Code 1: A1R1. Then code 2: A1R12B. Code three: 1B2BR13. Then finally code: Code 0000launch/kill Launch 0. That’s after you turn on the controller with the key. But that’s one idea.
