Elatine Hydropiper really is a slow growing plant, I have a super high tech tank with hypothetically perfect conditions for Elatine to grow and yet it still has barely doubled in mass since I put it in there three months ago.

Hygger has come a long way but from my experience, I have had good luck with them, more specifically the lights. Hygger sent me a very similar one to review as well for promotion. They are a very generous and helpful company. They were very easy to work with I ended up getting a 2nd one for myself because they were doing a half off promotion sale on amazon. Great review though. Thank you! Nice updated memory features.

I like the hygger lights but living in Florida I have them on timers too. I like the value and price point of the hygger light too. This is a little price jump but well worth it. I am in the process of putting together the equipment, hardscape and plants to build two 75 gal show tanks in my fish room. I haven't pulled the trigger on the lights because I have been debating whether to do a DIY version or buy aquarium lights. You just made up my mind. Thanks. I have heard mixed reviews and maybe I am just lucky but, I have never had an issue with any of my Hygger lights. Small or large, all still running fine over a year later (for some). I think for the money, they are replaceable if they fail after 1-2 years. But, If they don’t grow plants well for you, definitely get another brand! Whenever you are ready to make the bedroom aquarium less snaily and being able to do it at your leisure 🕺🏻 Just get yourself a decent sized return pump that is inside of a media bag and then a decent size of tubing & a clamp to return the water - MINUS - the snails !!! If you have any rigid tubes that you can connect with your hose it just makes it easier if you don't want to have your arm in the whole time 💪 The only trick is trying to match the water your siphoning your snails out into the container to match the water your pump sends back ! Obviously the hose you would be using is seperate from the pump , just using the same storage bin or bucket 🤔 There's many ways to go, this is just something different for a great way to get 99% and not disturbing the balance from a massive water change or a combination of both which I think is always the best thing and I can easily see the fish and plants enjoy the weekly water change which I have been doing since 2001 !!!🍒🍒🍒

Problem I see is the amount of aquasoil that would come with the tiny little snails that are all over the substrate. That’s the challenge I face here. What I have done in the past is put a few algae wafers in the middle front and let all the snails hoard on it. Then siphon them out every hour. Do this over a weekend and normally I can lower the population to near zero. But, the Corys also love the wafers so a little harder in this setup. 🤣

@@ssaquascapes Yeah I have been keeping Cory's in every tank and they're making my hobby affordable since I have been able to get a decent amount in store credit over the years. As far as the substrate and keeping it where it belongs what has been working wonderfully is to use a APOLLO 3/4 in. Barb insert Blue Twister Polypropylene x 3/8 from Home Depot and then you just have to hover the thing and once you get the hang of it it's practically like using mind control lol 🐌

Sounds like your needle valve is clogged. If you unscrew the needle valve all the way, you should be able to disassemble it and make sure it is perfectly clean. Blow out the hole, orifice, and reassemble. If that does not work, there is a clog somewhere else.
