I hope Moto Guzzi launches a new El Dorado California, with the new V100 engine or with this updated 1400. Guzzi does very well with prices; Harley's prices are ridiculous...

Although Guzzi cruisers are pretty long in the tooth, I personally doubt that a revamp is near. The 1400cc line hasn't been killing with the sales, even the range toping mgx-21. I do agree it would be very cool to have a new bike even with the new 1000cc engine, something to compete with the Nightster and the Indian Scout range, light and sporty dressed in an Italian suit

It's not the bike for riding in Dubai, it is for tight turns and elevation changes- perfect for mountain roads, low gearing it climbs well- as you say 200km legs, you'll need to refuel as it chugs it down when opened up wide everywhere. It hoses big bikes in tight stuff.
@todxbranko
@todxbranko 2 ай бұрын
I agree, we get our share of twisty road and hill climbs but they are at least an hour away from the city, the environment requires a better highway bike, however in Europe, for what's it's much better suited it would be great. I'd still go for the street triple though if looking for older bikes, nowadays this segment is booming

@@todxbranko it depends- buying second hand you have whats available at the time to pick from- I got my 675 for $5200aud 11years old, 27,000kms odo. at the time it was the best value for me to buy. I still think it looks 100x better then the Triumph- I cant have a union jack on my tank! - even if u gave it to me! The triumph has plenty of issues itself also- but parts are easier to get. Lots of the issues you speak of are simple fixes. The cush drive is its biggest failure, the gen 1 had a good design. Bds sell a fix for the cushdrive.
@todxbranko
@todxbranko 2 ай бұрын
About the union jack I really don't know what to say 😄 it's your prerogative, as far as the looks go, I agree, Brutale is a handsome piece of machinery. My preference to street triple is also quite subjective because I prefer the comfort of it and the smoother power delivery. I'm happy you are enjoying your Brutale, and I hope it serves you for a long time, I am sure you're having plenty of fun 😊

Good luck with that! Just reading about your situation gives me a headache 🫣 anyways if it's so difficult but absolutely necessary to turn maybe consider getting a dolly or a moving platform. They will allow you to move the bike in place without having to depend on just your front wheel turning lock.

Hey,how about cooling? On a hot day? Do you feel heat at your legs? Does it overheat on a busy summer traffic?
@todxbranko
@todxbranko 4 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the question, take note I'm in Dubai and it's always summer, so to answer - you feel the heat from the engine to some extent, but the exhaust pipes come out from the front of cylinder heads and then go under the floorboards, so there's no significant impact. Also the cylinders stick out left and right and are exposed to the airstream. And never an overheating issue like loss of power etc. There is an oil cooler and the engine takes a big amount of oil, and the gearbox has its own, and a dry clutch, that all contributes to cooling. I think as far as air-cooled machines go, and I've had a few, this one is great

@todxbranko
@todxbranko 6 ай бұрын
I agree it's a very unique piece of machinery. I haven't spent any time with a speedmaster, so I don't really know it's specific character and as such I can't say anything. I do know that engine (assuming we are talking about the 1200), and it's also a very capable one, so if cruising and touring are what you are looking for, then I think it's worth checking out. It doesn't have the power and torque of the California but it's got much less weight and I suspect it has an upper hand when it comes to agility, I believe that it's a better city bike solely in that matter. But if you are indeed looking for a cruiser then this Guzzi is definitely one to check out. Good luck with your bike hunt

Imma alive~! Alternative and Additional considerations = do-not upset the bike, in any way, before a corner, during a corner. Shift weight, shift gear, change speed, stabalise, enter, stabalise, whatever Avoid gear 1 (even for engine braking, if need gear 1, rather burn the brakes) Avoid cam-change ranges after downshift (if cam-shifts at 6000rpm avoid downshifting into 6000rpm where brake or throttle will create stress. Cam-shift includes VTEC) Avoid turbo shifts (some dragster-styles installed things bad for stress levels), between lag to spooled Use coasting-feel of lightweightedness for maximum tire-grip without-changing gyroscopic-effect of wheels or engine (coasting-feel can be in-gear at engine-rpm matched to wheel-rpm without touching clutch-lever) Avoid braking in-corner When overcook, throttle for rear wheel to oversteer(slide), changing attack of the front, creating sideways centrifugal-force effect (not necessarily 2 wheel slide) of both tires to create big braking effect. Applies to cars too. After thinking this strategy out, apply to drag race games to check, apply to other computer games to test. Target is different (gear) shifting strategy using downhill as the benchmark for power to weight ratio controlled release-application

13000rpm redline but coast in corner at 8000rpm, missile-aim by reducing throttle gradually, as brake, to 5000rpm, after aiming, throttle to cross 6000rpm cam-shift point. Ear can hear intake roar and exhaust-note(not noise, not loud pipes) at points...

@todxbranko
@todxbranko Жыл бұрын
Don't see a point of rekcluse, these bikes have so much torque they are unlikely to stall, besides California has a single plate dry clutch just like you'd find on an average manual gearbox in a car. Heat is a non issue, as long as you keep moving, the cylinder heads pointing out have the advantage of being exposed to air circulation. Protect your legs though

Can someone answer this: I'm going downhill, and start gaining speed(pulled clutch). Now when I release clutch I hear motor revs go up and bike slow down a bit(engine brake?). Will this hurt clutch in any way?Then I apply both breaks gradually to almost complete stop before hairpin. Look into turn, my shoulders follow, my bike follows. Right?
@todxbranko
@todxbranko Жыл бұрын
Assuming you know which gear you are in and how fast you should go not to overrev a specific gear, nothing major will happen to your clutch. If you don't know which gear you are in and don't have a slipper clutch abruptly dropping the clutch and revs going up you can easily lock the rear wheel. It's safer if you stay in gear and let the bike roll

The cons: dry clutch design worn out quick with friction and heat and need to dismantle engine to replace it and it will cost a fortune .parts are rare and super expensive specially cosmetics-vibration is extreemly high on idle bcz of the engine design that never changed since Guzzi was born-low technology old school mechanical architect-i dont drive mine often bcz am worry of failure.resale value is low bcz no one wants it.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, these comments somehow slipped under my radar. I'll address all 3 comments in this reply if you don't mind. First concerning the clutch- single plate dry clutch is the same like you would get in a car, and other motorcycles like airhead/oilhead BMW boxers also had the same type of a clutch, and rarely does anyone complain of it, and they can go for hundreds of thousands of kilometers before needing replacement, so that's something you really need not worry about. Transition to reliability, Guzzi engines are simple, well lubricated, very well exposed and thus cooled, and significantly understressed so engine dying shouldn't be your concern really. Perhaps the bad reputation of Italian electronics of the late 20th century, or the poorly designed tappets of early Grisso is what makes you believe that there is a danger of breakdown, but surely if you own a Guzzi of later age there is nothing to worry about. And then the vibration - you must have noticed they disappear completely once you add throttle and when running guzzis are some of the smoothest twins you'll ever get a chance to ride, so my advice is to guve your Guzzi a chance and spend some time in the saddle, and then we can have a chat again in 50-60 thousand kilometers when nothing happens

Sorry, man, your analysis is far away from my own experiences. I have my Eldorado now for 5 years. I changed the seat from the beginnning, but not because of uncomfortable sitting position but because I wanted a sissy bar and a luggage rack and I also had 2 leather saddlebags and a windshield from the start. I had all my life Moto Guzzi California, first a red Cali II 1982 for 20 years and then the Cali III IEC Special Edition 1992 used, for the last over 20 years and as said now the Eldorado. And the reason that I bought the Eldorado was exactly one thing, THE SITTINGPOSITION! I tryed the new Cali, the Audace and the Eldorado (with original-seats) over months and this was the most perfect and comfortable Moto-Guzzi I ever had. 2 months ago I made 1300 km in one day and it was like nothing!!! So I think your negaitvity against the Eldorado is quite arrogant and also the way how you were acting in this video.

Very good and informative review. My only criticism is the constant looping of the background music. Annoying and takes away from what you are messaging which is interesting. I've had two Guzzis and this one really wants to be in my stable I can tell. I am always surprised on the lack of Guzzi popularity. Folks seem to always criticize their mechanics but I've never yet had a problem with mine, and I just wonder on the bad reviews and whether those people even owned one? cheers

Thanks for the input. I, in all honesty never heard anyone criticize Moto Guzzi mechanics - electronics, yes. Mech is bulletproof, engines are simple, well laid out and easy to work on. I guess the biggest drawback for many people is that the power is less than one might expect from a bike of a comparable size, and the fact that an average Guzzi is heavier than you average comparable bike. Moto Guzzi character is not the flaw you are willing to live with as it gets with some other bikes, like MV Agusta or Ducatis of old

Aren't all 2014s 6 speed?
@todxbranko
@todxbranko 2 жыл бұрын
As you can see, they aren't. These Japanese spec bikes from 2014 not only are 5 speed but still carry the CB1100A code which is the original 2010 code elsewhere in the world. Contrary to what some people may think or say, I found it to be a tractable engine and the gearbox is a good match as the gears are long, so you can rev it out in every gear, torque comes in early and when it fades you are in max power so the darn thing still pulls, no need for short shifting as you would with a twin. It could be a personal preference as well, I like long gears, especially on smooth quiet bikes that don't feel like they are working hard over 5k rpm.
