Would it be cultural appropriation if I wanted to get a tattoo done like this from an Inuit tattoo artist in Greenland? I think this looks so beautiful!! I’m just curious. I wouldn’t want to wear something I’m not allowed to.

I have a question for native Greenlandic speakers. To what degree can you understand the other three dialects? Are they mutually inteligible?
@visitgreenland
@visitgreenland 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. The West Greenlandic dialects understand each other best not to mention some words could be misunderstood since one or two words could mean different or opposite. However, regarding the far north, the Inuhhuit dialect, Qaanaaq, and east Greenlandic dialects are unique dialects since they have their own way of communicating by verbal and text. I hope that answers your question.

In my video "Greenland - July 2019 - Part 2 (Helheim Glacier by Helicopter)" made in July 2019, at 01:40 you see a large tabular iceberg which looks very similar - is it the same one?
@visitgreenland
@visitgreenland 4 ай бұрын
Dear The URLofEaling, The video of the iceberg is from 2 years ago. So I don't think it is. But they came from the northeast coast. They usually float all around the coast where it end up in mid west coast.
@TheURLofEaling
@TheURLofEaling 4 ай бұрын
Yes and my video was 5 years ago. But icebergs live for much longer than that so the dates of both videos do not disprove the idea that it could be the same one?
@visitgreenland
@visitgreenland 4 ай бұрын
@@TheURLofEaling That is a good point and a good question. I also just know that it diveded in the two peaces where the other part was seen further op north or farther out in the ocean. So the question lies out there. :)

Thank you very much for this nice mini-documentary. I have been looking for more info about Nukissiorfiit since I am interested in the energy and water supply system of Greenland, which led me to this video. Kalaallisut sounds really nice by the way, the language has a soothing sound to it. I am currently trying to learn it, but it is quite hard, especially when you don't have a language/tandem partner to learn and practice Greenlandic. Greetings from Luxembourg, hopefully I will be able to visit Greenland soon (and maybe work there, if an opportunity arises) 😉.

I was in south-west Greeland last year September and my flight was cancelled due to weather , so I had to take another flight the NEXT DAY. Yes, weather is what it is and one has to consider that the airport runways are usually much smaller there, especially in small settlements. This means, it is harder for pilots to land if the visibility is bad. I am going to Greenland again this year in March and let`s see what adventure it brings this time :-D!

Hello, My name is Katy and I moved to Qaqortoq, Greenland 12 years ago from Florida (USA). I migrated because my husband is a native Greenlander. This country is so beautiful! It has brought me peace, happiness and healing! I have come to love this country as much as I love my home country. I can't imagine living anywhere else in this part of my life. Thank you for sharing this new video. I will be sharing it too! Look forward to more interesting videos!
