I could tell it's him with just a power chord, there is something special in his sound.

Fan: "Oh so it does metal, too?" Poland: Hol' up. *Plays Black Friday for the first time in a long time* Sometimes, things just click. That guy right there managed to get the Black Friday riff out of Chris Poland.

I love how at 1:25 he switches from his index to the thumb to hold the G note on the E string so that he's ready for the inverted power chords. Also love to see the amount of muscle memory that kicks in in various places. It's like it suddenly clicks at 1:16. Such a great player. Edit: They were all about these little optimizations so they can sound insanely sharp, another example is Dave's spider chord technique.

Yooo 1:55 when he goes back to the riff and plays it again. Absolutely nails it ughh. That pinch and it just sounds so Peace Sells. Poland is sooo fun to watch

Chris is THE sound of CLASSIC Megadeth. I love how he combines blues, jazz, thrash and his own fusioned, legato spin on whatever he plays. Very influential, at least for me. Marty is also a legend but Chris has something more ethereal and otherworldly to his melodic line. Could be the jazzer stuff, I know he is a big Jan Hammer fan.

The way he holds the fretboard is quite counter-intuitive, but it works quite well for him. Such an interesting player and unlike anyone else! I love those Holdsworthian microtones he pulls off with the whammy bar

Great playing, tone and dynamics from everyone. Apparently the sound guy thought it was Andy Timmons and guests.

People curious about this picking technique should take a look at the "Reverse Dart Thrower Picking Motion" video by Troy Grady. It's possible to play insane fast with this reverse pick grip.

wow you can really feel his jazz influence. I wish he has some side projects where he can really explore other side of his playing. BLS is great, but I think people want to hear other side of him.

I still say Peace is a more complete album that Rust. That’s just me. To each their own though. I think if they had one more album after that we would’ve heard something insane. People say people can’t replicate Marty’s solos. Have you seen and heard Marty trying to emulate Poland? He was never able to do it or come close. To me Poland, Marty and Broderick were the best guitarists Megadeth ever had. Again, that’s just my personal preference. Everyone’s different and offer something unique. Poland is a phenomenal Jazz player as well. Glad he’s still around playing music.

As much as I agree those 3 are the best guitarist Megadeth has had. Jeff Young from So Far So Good So What was able to play Chris Poland. I also think he has some of the craziest solos because how unhinged that album is.
