I would have been shocked if he got that deer. Tracking a mature deer is very difficult. They aren’t stupid. Standing is a lot better.

Last 2 pairs of muck and last 2 pairs of lacrosse have been junk. None lasted a season and I only get to hunt 20-25 days a year. There is a definite market if someone will build a quality item.

In Fall of 1977, when I was 17, I followed a nice track in big north MN woods in 6” fresh snow. Going north After about 3 hours the trail ended. The deer had walked backwards on its own trail for about 15 yards, then made a big jump, landing a good 15 feet off his trail, then headed northwest. I was amazed how smart he was to use that tactic to lose me. I followed the new trail for 2 more hours, never did see it

It’s something to keep in mind. But I can say that since using them I haven’t had any trouble and I’ve really liked how small they stack together, which is the benefit you get for sacrificing the pivoting tree bracket

cool video are you still using the jx3 and would still recommend it?
@JasonTome2 ай бұрын
Thanks, yes I still use it and recommend it. I also use a Dryad Drey. Which one I use on a particular day depends on my situation. You can check out my Drey review here:jasontomeoutdoors.com/dryad-drey-review/ which compares the JX3 to the Drey

I recently bought an Athlon Cronus UHD Gen 2 10x42 and compared to my $50 ScoopX UHD 10x42 they're nearly identical in glass quality and main differences are significantly higher cost factor and weight difference and Athlon's lifetime warranty. If buying everything with your own hard earned money tje ScoopX UHD can be bought for under $70 from some eBay sellers and pre-owned for under $50. I suggest trying them out for yourself since they're at least noticeably superior to the Athlon Midas UHD in regards to glass quality and have field flatteners and comparable to the Cronus UHD Gen 2 but much lighter weight and way cheaper too.

I've noticed the Athlon Cronus UHD has a weird fishbowl effect that makes me really dizzy and nauseated l

Been running lacrosse boots for 7-8 years now. I swear the quality in the rubber has gone down. Seems softer than ever. I’m hard on them and put close to 10 miles or more a day but seems hard pressed to last a season now

Awesome video!! I have found in my 38 yrs of hunting nothing can compete with the lacrosse rubber hunting boot and I’ve yet to find one that is also 18’inches high. I don’t stalk them like you guys do up in Maine but I sit dark to dark in blinds with cold weather so the higher number thinsulte the better. Once again awesome video

Great vid! I have the 16 inch classic Bean Hunting Shoe and the Lacrosse Grange. I use the Bean boot more for walking trails hunting grouse and the Grange for deer hunting. Neither have great traction. Really informative video. Think I'll stick with the simple and lightweight Grange. Though I've always been interested in the Xtra Tuff brown rubber boots that so many Alaskans wear. I'll have to try those out some day.

Fantastic in-depth review!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for this. For hunting and tracking in Maine, do you think the 8x32 would be any better? Or, is the 8x42 the sweet spot for power?
@JasonTome3 ай бұрын
Thanks! I would recommend 8x42 or 10x42 for hunting and tracking in Maine

Appreciate and really impressed by your effort and I just recently purchased an Athlon Midas ED/UHD 8x42 Gen 1 based on your review. I also just purchased an Athlon Cronus UHD 10x50 rangefinder binoculars as well. A friend who's into optics suggested to buy cheap Celestron (NON HD) binoculars for bang for the buck but their warranty isn't good and you have to pay them a fee- money everytime you need to send your binoculars in just like Bushnell. They also only have a 2 year warranty and only collamination issues fir the first 30 days and build quality seems non-existent based on many customer negative reviews.

I saw so many reviews in so many products. Honestly, your review is the best I have ever watched. The reason is that you have systematically explained every item and then you filtered all items that are not good and you came out to the one that is best value for the money, excellent job. I wish you continue to review other things on the same way.

Hey Jason...Just came across your video. I am trying to convert my Outback so I can sleep in it. Could you show or explain how you get the cot level towards the front (either behind or on the passenger seat) ? Thanks
@JasonTome8 ай бұрын
With the passenger seat pushed and leaned all the way forward I was able to fit an upside-down tote behind the seat. The cot rested on the center console and tote because they were at the same level. Hope this helps!

Well passing on a buck like that in ME has its benefits and drawbacks. Good on you for trying to kill a bigger buck and let’s face it the experience is worth it as your trophy. You could have shot this deer clearly so huntings version of catch and release. Great video!!!!

Typical J hook. I track mostly cougars in the snow , after jumping them they usually pull a J hook. If you can get a little further off their track and it’s not so thick, you can catch them staring at their back track .Lights out! Good job!
