You made a mistake by calling the "level check plug" the fill plug.

Thanks for the video. I didn't know about the level plug on the drivers side. I drained 3 quarts and added 3.I will use the fill level plug next time. Thanks

Thank you for the video. Since EV transmission do not get hot like a regular cars, I am comfortable changing the transmission fluid at 150,000 miles, same time Chevy recommendeds to change the coolant at 5 years / 150,000 miles. However, in this EV with a single speead , single gear transmission, with low heat, it makes sense to go even longer without changing this EV transmission fluid.

Nope they care that they dont want mechanics to fiddle with the vehicle, so it breaks down and customer purchases new .

It would add another point of entry for contamination with no real benefit. Fill until pouring out of another port method is used on most every manual trans and differential on the planet. You only have to do it every 150k miles so it’s not that big of a deal.

huge benefit with any gearing to check the condition of the lube. if a person cant tell the dif between where oil goes and water goes or any other fluid for that fact... they have no business opening the hood of a vehicle period. but for those of us that can read, we would like to maintain our own vehicles. @@steventrott8714

9/32 of an inch? On a 2019? Even on a Chevy that seems hard to believe. Maybe it was 7mm? It’s nice that an EV doesn’t involve a torque converter or clutches which degrade fluid in an ICE vehicle transmission. Even so, 50k miles seems a high frequency.. Manual trans change frequency is often much longer. What does Chevy specify for the interval? Do they specify synthetic? Very clear instructions!

I used a 9/32. 50k might be soon, didn't matter to me. I changed it. The fluid I used is the spec.

Great video! How many miles were on your Bolt when you did this? The fluid coming out looked clean. Did you compare it to new fluid? Typically ATF degrades due to heat but the Bolt transaxle seems not to heat up like a typical ICE automatic transmission.

Yep, it looks clean, but it's the lighting and such that looked that way. 55k. The comparison between new and old fluid was evident. Either way, no fluid is Lifetime. A little reassurance and slight cost is nothing in my book. Thank you for the comment. :)
