I am driving a Grenadier for about half a year now. This car is absolutely insane. The offroad capabilities are nuts, the pracicability is great and Ineos just thought about so much stuff when constructing this vehicle. I f*ing love this thing! The steering out can easily be fixed by installing an aftermarket steering damper (about 200 Euros in Germany).

From the video's I have watched, I will swap out the steering stabilazer to the Fox Custom Stabilazer for Grenadier. INEOS Grenadier Fox Steering Stabilizer by Agile Offroad $260.00 USD. Plug that in on youtube. AgleOffroad contacted Fox who do all the stuff for the Ford 150 Raptor. They designed this new stabilazer just for the lousy steering. It is very overbuilt with enormous pressure to swing that recirculating ball very close to center. From what I see this is a must have.

Solution to the lack of “bumping” to get unstuck, is to put it on e-save and “battery charge” mode. So it blocks all electric and turns into a regular gas Rubicon

So most of your video is what I would define as off-roading, not overlanding. So basically you’re now off-road camping. But call it what you want. In Australia, when I was there, was definitely more what I would call overlanding. Long distance over dirt/gravel roads etc. Great video and very entertaining.

In the end I'm not sure I'll ever do 60's but decided for now this is plenty of truck for me and what sealed the deal is Jeep was having end of '23 sale that resulted in this particular Rubicon being 25% off basically putting at Sport MSRP pricing so I couldn't say no. Yeah there's the tiniest bit of rubbing on the fender liner when turning in certain situations, as I recall it's the back of the front tire on the outside edge of the tire as it sweeps by the fender. Oddly I notice it more on transitions to driveways on pavement than off-road. Maybe because I have the sway bar disconnected. In any case it's quite minimal, I wouldn't even worry about it if I were going to leave the suspension but I'm sure you could heat the liner up and it back just enough to get it to clear.

I'm interested but it has some issues. The first question is what is the actual Canadian GVWR? The curb weight on the Grenadier is the same as my fully loaded wet weight on my modified F-150 V8 lifted on 35's, w/ a winch, a full AT Habitat camper, fridge, toilet, dual battery system, 15 G of water, food, clothes, gear, tools and more. The second issue is Canadian vehicles have American tariffs on them, they should be coming direct from France to Canada because Canada has free trade with Europe. It would also get rid of 1 currency exchange fee.

I get the SxS hate and the desire for related restrictions - the SxS crowd is doing that to themselves and even the 4x4 crowd had to learn this and enforce policies like 'leave it better than you found it'. However, I don't get the environmental concerns. Sure, driving on a trail impacts environment of the trail, but that is a fraction of a percent of the total land area. I've heard that people that are not in motorized vehicles (hikers, etc.) claim the motorized vehicles disrupt their enjoyment, but I suspect that this goes back to the SxS and motorbike crowds due to noise. Other vehicles (e.g. Jeeps) crawling over the trails at a few MPH aren't disturbing anyone. As for EVs, they are here to stay. For me, EVs aren't a viable consideration until more infrasture is in place and more safety issues are addressed (e.g. what happens when you go through water with these batteries or the risk of puncturing a battery when rock crawling, etc.). And, when these batteries catch on fire, the vehicle goes up quick! Will manufacturers warranty these vehicles when off-roading? The key advantage to the EV is the high torge at low RPM, and who wouldn't want that on the trail? I don't think that there is a valid debate against EVs on efficiency, the concerns are about the viability of the battery technology. Will EVs be able to support mass adoption with this technology? Is there sufficient material to build all of the required batteries? Are we efficiently recycling them in an economically way? Are people able to afford the cost of a battery replacement? And again, infrastructure is still an issue. For example, can we drive from AZ to hit the trails in Moab and then drive back to AZ? Are there a sufficient number of charging stations? What special considerations are necessary? What if a vehicle does run out of electricity on the trail? Maybe Rotopax will come out with charging batteries you can hang off of your vehicle instead of gas cans.. The issues with EVs aren't insurmountable and there are clearly benefits. The question is: how long will these early adopter pains linger?

Well, anyplace humans go, it gets destroyed. So I get it. There's also a huge movement in North America trying to keep all motorized vehicles out of fresh waterways. As an avid fly fisher, nothing bothers me more than seeing a dirty greasy 4x4 or side by side polluting a river as they cross it or drive up & down through it. Rivers are actually very fragile ecosystems. I know they don't look it when you're standing beside one, but they are.

Grenadier is a really good vehicle and the ride quality is good but its a mistake to believe it has very little electronics ( that's the marketing hype ) - Is it the new Defender ? - i think so but better in many ways - but the jury is definitely out on how intrusive all that electronics are in real world conditions ( 2x Defender 300TDI's 1x Grenadier )

I’ve test driven the IG off road and on road thanks to the closest dealer. Off road capabilities are world class with available three dif lockers. I saw one comparison video with the IG, LC 300, Nissan Patrol and LR Defender. There was some criticism of the IG’s traction control , but the test was done without lockers engaged. As a result of my test drives, the suspension is outstanding, both on and off road. As noted everywhere else, the recirculating ball steering takes some adjustment but becomes second nature. A couple minor niggles after my drives….the rear camera image is portrayed on only half the screen which is too small to be helpful . Also, would have liked a few more USB outlets front and back seats. Finally, the rear seat backs do not recline at all. That’s not good for long trips with passengers stuck in one position..even the airlines let you recline a little. All fixable but not in the first copies coming out. Great acceleration onto the freeways, handles freeway undulations and potholes super well, and is stable at 80 mph. Only question left is how will the financing work out best? If the IG falls through for me, I’m looking next at the LC 250 or Lexus GX 550.
@BeowulfHagen
@BeowulfHagen 8 ай бұрын
I agree with you on everything. I'm hoping the backup image on the screen can be addressed with a software update. It should be much bigger. If they are worried about being able to see speed in reverse, it can be overlayed on the video feed. I tried backing into the dealer space for my test drive unit, and I was worried I'd hit something since I could not really tell what was happening in that tiny screen.

I've driven the 300 series Landcruiser (V6 twin turbo diesel ) and the Grenadier, in Australia you can option both with a raised air intake. The GX model 300 (called the Poverty Pack in AU) is the closest in trim and features. The drive isn't comparable between the two, the 300 is more car like and is close to 400kgs (880lbs) lighter with 700nm compared to the 550nm on the Grenadier. The ride in the Grenadier is superior IMO and it feels more planted and far more robust. Now....value? I can't spec a 300 with all the features of my speced Grenadier for the same $ possibly cost an additional $20K. If you like the old Defender, you'll love the Grenadier. One (LC) is a soccer mom's car the other is for off roading, the steering alone doesn't lend it to shopping mall driving.
