Thanks. I am a new nurse working LCT. I have been so discouraged Because it is so much to learn and nurses can be so hurtful to new nurses, and i have been trying to finish my med pass quickly. But i am going to take your advice and just take my time. You are right 😅

New nurse here thank you for saying it. I am definitely feeling the heat about moving to slow. But I'm getting to know the people and making good connections with them instead of just being the licensed drug dealer.

I am 52 and I have owned a home care agency for 10 years. I feel as if I lost all of my nursing skills. I really want to start doing bedside nursing again, but I am at a lost. Do you have any suggestions or can you create a video on this topic? Thank you in advance.

THANK YOU FOR THIS LOVELY HEART FELT VIDEO! I am not a nurse however in Missouri we have a role called CMA-L1 (Certified Medication Aide-Level 1) we are allowed to pass meds in residential care facilities... I was first certified in 2000, I have worked off & on for years in various facilities, the last year I worked was 2016! I have been working in another field and recently decided to come back to this population. I returned to the field 3/25/2024... Omg, the level of disrespect is unreal and I am trying my best to find my way and NOT click out, they laugh at me because I move slow as I am learning how to use the damn electronic M.A.R. which may be simple but not really! Your tips are making me feel better already! I'm going in there from now on with my Ipod jamming my inspirational playlist and being unbothered as I make my bag! They keep reminding me that people keep quitting all the time, so I'll take the bullying in stride {{*_*}} as I stick with it to move at my pace!.

nurses should motivate and lift up each other because we have similar goals and that is to give the best possible care to our patients we are not there to compete each other or bully younger or new nurses in the workplace. seasoned nurses should look back when they new and inexperienced too. If someone would ask for help about sth and i know the answer i would help tht nurse why not! it doesn't affect my ego or sth. I am always enthusiat to help.

In my opinion 3pm-11pm. Is tough especially when you have 12 finger sticks before supper and them trays are passed. Then they all need coverage ugh... But I always embrace the new and young cause the more the merrier I learned in nursing cause u can always use the help.

That’s why I trying to go into agency as a nurse. I loved agency as a cna. I need the flexibility even more now that I’m a mom. I also find it easier to leave work at work as an agency worker because of the lack of commitment.

Yes it’s not a race but honestly I’m moving fast to get off my feet because if I don’t I won’t be a healthy nurse long enough. When I work 11-7 I bring my cart to the nursing station to prep my meds so I only have to stand for the actual med pass

I was bullied by a nurse who has 30 yrs of experience vs me who has 2 months. I was supposed to ask the ADON but he was not in his office so since it's next to the nurse station where the UM was, I asked her thinking she might be able to help. The problem was we don't have 1.5 cal feeding for one of our residents but only 1.2. So I asked her what can I use. She then looked at me removed her glasses and said "That's when you do your math lady, you calculate your calories , that's when you do your math" and she told me with an ATTITUDE and other nurses can hear. I honestly wanted to disappear because I felt so embarrassed and stupid at the same time. There's a lot of things I wasn't taught while in school. We have a conversion in our med room but that particular feeding wasn't listed there. I honestly wanted to give up that day. I am thankful for people who's non judgmental it means so much to me <3

Those people are miserable in the field. Let's be honest being an LVN is hard and working at SNF sucks but those nurses who stayed for that long and treats new nurses like shit didn't end up in the career they want and are miserable at work and their personal life. I was bullied too but I stood my ground and I do talk back and remind them they are once in my position and answering a damn question without degrading others specially new nurses is possible. You can do it. You are smart and the nursing school and your work training isn't enough so don't feel bad.

You should have the 1.5 cal feeding available! That calculation does not make any sense.

Next time when tube feeding issues come up like this … call the dietitian for a substitute and then follow up with the MD bc you will need the change the order in your system. So sorry your UM wasn’t willing to do her job and help.

I'm just starting out and this is striking home right now. I'm struggling with med pass and balancing all other things that need to be done. I'm starting out in an SNF so my ratios are kinda high and I could relate when you said you felt like you were slow and that you need to speed up, I feel that way A LOT. I even came from a different country so the practice and standards are not the same. To all my fellow nurses out there, and specially to those who are just starting out, we got this and eventually we will be good nurses. Do not give up cause I need ya'll to not give up too <3

Why does everyone focus on the old nurses eating their young…bullying happens to experienced nurses as well. I am a new travel RN my background is a specific population of a patients with Lymphomas and blood disorders. I have yet to find a facility or unit that is warm and welcoming to me. The techs are nasty and usually have these weird relationships with the manager who empowers them to be nasty to certain nurses.

Spot on, is happening to me right now. I’m a new grad nurse that was a tech previously on the same unit, and since I became a nurse two of the techs completely changed their attitude towards me, in a negative way.
