Knew Mahlon from childhood days in the neighborhood. His second home seemed to be my grandmothers house. Remember the glory years in the area with Sunnyland,, Blues Xchange, Blue Defenders, Gut Bucket Blues Band and some others. Some not with us now...like Tommy Parker and Mahlon God Blue bless them all

Amen to your feelings..I felt like the luckiest sob, when Sunnylands' young, hot guitarist,Jimmy Williams, blew off a Cogans' live gig..I drove down Colley Avenue and got my equipment..That was such a scary, first gig..I had been following them and our other three, fine blues outfits for some time..I got the education of my life with these wonderful musicians and friends..Not a day passes, that I don't think of my treasured time with Mahlon, Bret,Dick,Walter and Jimi..I miss Mahlon and all those exceptional players from our initial four ,local blues bands..

Is this Weathers or Mortimore? It sounds like Weathers. After Martin Smith, it was Malcolm Mortimore on drums for Three Friends, before his motorcycle wreck (I can't find the date of the accident). His friend John P. Weathers replaced him. Malcolm rejoined decades later. GREAT DRUMMERS !

The thing that is so amazing about GG is they take these really complicated, sophisticated arrangements and they make it even MORE complex and sophisticated LIVE, and they pull it off. They're always like "no, let's not simplify it for live performance, let's make it more complex!" Just crazy what these guys pulled off.

Amen to all your spot on observations...Fans of the headliners that night were won over by GG's musicianship..The only downside of that evening was my brother Larry had his MGB ripped off from the Coliseum parking lot..
