I wasn't specifically looking for this rendition of sewing in a D-ring, but I watched it because it was fascinating & you do beautiful work. * now I realize why leather bags can be so expensive - it's the beauty AND the craftsmanship.

why not cut the fabric purse out instead of the paper?
@FiddlestixAndStitches
@FiddlestixAndStitches 28 күн бұрын
Definitely could do that… things like fussy cutting would probly require the pattern but also I love laying my pattern pieces out on my vinyl so I can see what I’ve got before cutting… but cutting the fabric is good too…❤️

For hand sewing what size needle do you use? I noticed that you sew the back binding on by hand. Also, the cameo shot of your little Pug is adorable.

I don't think that's hammer mode. It's supposed to make rapid stabbing motions into the fabric and will stop if it meets too much resistance. Like hammering.
@FiddlestixAndStitches
@FiddlestixAndStitches Ай бұрын
Here is the hammer mode description directly from Bernina… BERNINA Hammer Mode As described above, the needle penetration in the fabric creates friction, which demands the motor to produce more power. The motor needs more current to produce this power, and obviously the higher the friction the higher the current. When too much friction is applied to the needle, i.e. sewing over multiple layers of heavy dense fabric (but before the absolute limit is reached), rather than the motor just attempting to constantly push the needle through the fabric, the motor gets a signal from the electronics to start to pulsate, giving an appearance of a hammer mode. The needle then appears to behave like a miniature jack hammer, attempting to punch through the fabric in rapid firing stabs. This feature allows the machine to reach a higher penetration power without more electrical power. This means an additional burst of power without overloading the motor

Make sure you give your old kitchen aid mixers a tune up, new gaskets and a thorough application of grease. Those gears need attention because they will break. Kits are available. Easy peasy after I did mine it sounded so much more quiet and happy!
