You are one smart kid. I like the way you think. It is interesting how many of us make dumb mistakes on a lot of things besides cars. It's not rocket science, but we as people make dumb mistakes all the time. I'm an old guy now when I worked I drove cheap late-model wrecks from the wrecking yard. It worked really well. Now retired I drive a Hertz 2017 Toyota Corolla. It had about 30,000 miles when I got it. I change the oil and filter myself. I will probably not need another car. Here's what the way you think saved me a lot of money. I worked for the Federal Government and drove my car and they paid me. I saved the money from driving wrecked cars, and changing my own oil, etc in my cheap but nice cars. That money I invested in my retirement program so I have a bigger annuity payment every month!

It might have been easier to do a tear down and just rebuild from scratch with everything that you wanted . But where is the challenge in that J R ?

Anytime you rip a wall down…insulate it for sound before you close it up. Especially bathrooms. Water is noisy. But just keeping sound from traveling from room to room is never a bad idea.

Don't leave Pex dangling for too long. You want to run directly from the appliance to the wall and have it solidly secured. The metal couplers are harder than the tubing. A side load for too long on the joints will weakend the connection between the coupler and the tubing. Especially any diameter over half inch because the water is heavy. Also they say heat doesn't hurt Pex but most repairs Ive had to do were joints just after the water heater so use the metal extensions between the heater and the pex run. Good luck with that spider's web of pipes and wires in the utility room. Maybe put up some bungee cords until you get to installing hangers.

@@WatchJRGo Are you kidding me? Do you watch your video's? Complaining about the crazy amount of phone cord and you are not even done removing it all yet. All the sheetrock has to come out like it always does just over and over and over. Then it needs like 15 outlets not really 15 outlets, getting its own dedicated circuit with at least 4 or 5. Then complaining about the old plumbing, then the mirrors, the door being close to the toilet, the mirrors being liquid nailed to the sheetrock. So pls don't say zero complaining cuz that's all I hear is complaining. I like the renovation project updates just dial down on the complaining.

The answer is simple. Any car MFR that locks you out don't buy their cars! Stellantis (owner of Chrysler and many bands now ) cars are terrible, long history of failures (remember Renault Alliance?). Also they have the highest recalls out there and don't produce as many vehicles as GM. Look at Fiat sales in 2024 pitiful. Consumers have power!

I used to love PEX. The manifold, the ease of installation, the fact that its so quiet when water runs through it. But you know what I noticed after living with it in a previous house? It makes the water taste a little funny. And now we are reading news stories saying that they're finding microplastics in everyone's testicles. So as old fashioned as it may seem, I think copper is still the best way to go (yeah, its probably a bit too late to change now). I suspect one day we'll look back on PEX plumbing the way we now look back on lead pipes.

The place is really shaping up! I'm so jealous of you. I've done this three times, over the years. Living in the house, during construction. We were so pissed at the first place we bought, we gutted everything and lived in a single bedroom with a stove and washing machine in the basement. When we finished, we were so tire, we didn't even open the door on the original bedroom for nine or ten months. Keep the faith, it'll be done before you know it. Stay safe and thanks.

*Suggestion* : I love that chop saw trolley thing. If you ever have a slack moment ( doubtful ! ), could you and Eric do a "rig rundown" and take us through the tools you're using ( the saw, the saw trolley thing, the ladders, Eric's utility belt/ suspender thing, that huge spirit level, hammers you prefer etc ). For us amateurs, it would be interesting I think. Either way, great progress and greetings from Prague, CZ
