Good luck with the restoration mate. I'm deep into the metal work on my t4 which has kept me very busy. But I believe every vw van deserves another chance at life 😊 Will definitely be watching your progress 👍🏻

Just bought same motor, same year, same mileage. Body work is in good condition but exhaust smoking a bit... was reassuring to hear you say the engines are good. Mine has only done 50 miles since MOT last Oct 2023.... so I'm hoping this will resolve with a few good runs... do you have any advice please mate, I'm not a mechanic and could do with some good reassuring news. Previous owner reckons the engine was re-conned at some point...Many thanks

Take it for a good long thrashing, diesels need that every now and then. Short trips not so good for the injectors
@echassin28 күн бұрын
Nice! I think that power "setting" is at a perfect point along some imaginary cost-to-fun curve. I used a 20vt BAM in the same range knowing I can service it with standard parts from anywhere, use the normal clutch, not break anything, and knowing that no matter what I do, any soccer mom in a Tesla will be much faster.

Lovely setup! Why did you choose to keep the original oil/water heat exchanger? Is it actually connected to the coolant lines or is it just acting as a spacer for the sandwich plates?
@mk2daz3 ай бұрын
Yes it is connected to the lines actually, even though I do have an external oil cooler mounted up front the oem cooler actually helps the oil get up to temperature quicker. People like to delete them but they serve quite an important purpose!
@steviesspeedshack3 ай бұрын
@@mk2daz that's fair I intend to get rid of mine to avoid water & oil mixing in the event of a failure.

I might have one again . I want to do AWD . I started building one years ago ,, before my life crashed the first time trusting the wrong people . I used the drivetrain from an 86` Audi 5000 . I have learned so much since then . Like I said , maybe one day . Enjoy yours now ,,, you have done an amazing job .

RWD converted to FWD...engine install cool, but I don't see data on the rear suspension, diff, driveshaft? Maybe I just missed it, or is it a "if I tell you I have to kill you" kind of secret?
@mk2daz3 ай бұрын
Wrong way round, FWD converted to RWD. Have a look through some of my older videos for details on the drivetrain, its basically mazda rx8 all the way back from the gearbox to diff with a custom propshaft - thanks for watching!

I've had endless grief bleeding the rear mazda mx5 calipers and a nsr on a mazda 5 people carrier. seems the best way is to reverse bleed them off the car tighten the nipple and plug the inlet hole to keep the fluid in , then with caution and a bit of dribbling fit a "live pipe", i.e fluid in it, if you had success , what method did you use ?

I might have to buy another one 😄 I was watching your videos and I really dig your projects. Glad to see the RWD rocco one the road 🥳
@petergearing47963 ай бұрын
I am guessing that this one came out of the factory as a 18i GTX originally. I've had both an 86 GTX and a MK4 Golf 18T 20v. I loved my GTX but what a lovely car your Scirocco must be. What a combination.
