A 40 yard laser is Aaron’s Rodgers, John Elway, Brett Favre, Randall Cunningham and maybe a couple other guys. That is an insane metric for a High school sophomore. I’m talking a 1 ball. If you’re talking a 2 ball ok I’m with you….

This video is a little dated which is to be expected as everything changes including QB coaching and you really should not have your front arm flying out the way it does in this video but it’s a old video.

What about a quick slant with cover 3 or something where the backer is getting to the flat and the WR get into route quick. Would you have him take 1 quick step and throw before he gets into the backer? Or does that quick 3 step work well? I’ve coached WRs 10 years and DBs 2. Always wanted to learn more QB steps and drops

It was all good for me until I torn a rotator cuff on my throwing arm in high school and broke my radius & ulna bones in college. In my mid 30s now, still have shoulder pain often when I don't get enough sleep, if standing for too long, continuous heavy lifting, or after throwing the football at a park. I've also permanently lost range of motion on my injured wrist...With that said, I still can throw the football in tight spirals with pin point accuracy up to 40 yards on any given day. Strangers on the receiving end of my football throw tells me sometimes they hear the ball whistling. I presume people could tell, since they've never asked, that I used to be a qb probably from my throwing motion and how the ball travels accurate and fast coming off of my hand. But for some odd reason, I struggle getting the ball pass 50 yards on a lob throw. I'd love to watch it fly 60 70 80 yards with 5+ seconds hang time. That's the whole reason I got into football as a kid in the first place because I fell in love watching the football fly high though the air in a spiral; especially the official USA kind not those composite China stuff. I didn't care much about football as a game since the beginning. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to win a ring and get overly paid to play. Honestly this day and age, I could careless about football as a game. I just enjoy throwing it and watching it fly. Given my age and condition, any suggestion on how I can accomplish throwing 60 plus yards or improve on my limited range? I've checked strength. I've checked mechanics. I've checked technique. I'm definitely not lacking those 3 things. Maybe the reason could be from not enough motion quickness or couldn't get that snap due to my prior injuries!? I get envious of those in the 60+ yards club. That is the only thing I am missing from what I enjoy doing.

By concentrating on keeping the throwing hand from pronating to the left as we threw the ball, we were able to impart terrific spin on the football. When the ball hit the ground about 18 yards away, amazingly, the ball continued to spin like a top for a few seconds! A simple adjustment of the hand a fraction of an inch to the right produced that great result and stopped the normal 'dying duck' throw.
@utes492 жыл бұрын
Do you mean a simple adjustment of the hand gripping the ball or is it in the actual throwing motion?
@johnzajac98492 жыл бұрын
@@utes49 I tend to pronate the wrist and that causes the ball to fly somewhat sideways, instead of spin. Therefore, I have to concentrate on keeping the wrist from twisting, and the hand stays firmly set and follows suit.

@@johnzajac9849 My son is a qb and will throw the 'dying duck' at times and I am trying to help him fix that problem. One thing I've noticed is he doesn't get very much spin on the ball when passing so this tip is something we can definitely look into. Thanks for your help!
@johnzajac98492 жыл бұрын
@@utes49 Mahomes, Wilson, et al! Watch how they take the ball back, 'cradle it', and impart spin as the ball comes forward. The fingers, especially the forefinger, pull down on the laces as the ball comes out of the 'cradle'. That action imparts spin. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pciSZ8l4lqvXqZs.html

How do you solve the problem of NOT throwing forward - and not throwing correctly like the young man in the video? Our thrower pronates his wrist and gets wobbly or fish-tailing footballs and not much spin. Thanks.

i am 15. i picked up a football for the first time 2 weeks ago and i am going to start my sophmore year in september. i love the sport, i have been watching it for years so i know all about it. i want to be a QB, like most i love the responsability and i love love love throwing the ball. i have had 0 coaching and played 0 games, all i know comes from hours of throwing the ball and watching games and youtube (videos like this one here). i can throw 45 accurate yards with decent quick release. mind you i am out playing every chance i get, i still have 1 month before school starts so i have time. my passes are quite accurate and up to the 15 yard line they are 90 percent accurate. it will all get better i haven t had any coaching at all. so here is my question, with training and hard work, could i be a good qb for my hs sophmore year team? i am very passionate even though having little to no experiance. i will be able to throw 50 accurate yards by the time school starts. should i shoot for the position and try for the team? or am i better off being the water boy?
@noahkiger97882 жыл бұрын
im not sure how your school's sports program works, but usually off season lifting begins shortly after the football season ends, around november-december, that's when you want to join up. you clearly have the mindset and the understanding that you can and will get better, and you've been putting in the work, so you're already off to a good start. go for it homie
