When I was a little girl and it turned 1981, my family shouted and celebrated and I cried watching Barry Manilow sing “Another New Year’s Eve, because everything I loved from the previous year was gone. I was 7. 😂

I'm wondering what made them change the song ...I mean the intro makes sense (easier to see the characters) even though i love this one too...and the song is nice too but this one is much better I think

Running times got cut down a bit so intros got shortened to fit more story in to the episode. Also Frank Valentini (executive producer) fired RC Cates, the composer, and replaced him with the composer from OLTL. That’s why all the music got so dark and heavy and “dun dun” after 2013

I loved this closing theme along with season four. It kept the low sax music with beats of bongo drums added. The more upbeat tempo with piano and a little sax in the middle did not sound as good as, for some reason, most 80s sitcoms did. The closing credits of seasons four and five had the 70s groove beat that, sadly, went away when they introduced the newest closing theme during season six that they kept for the rest of the series.

This was my favorite out of all the closing themes. It was overdoing it when Linda Lavin, using a strained voice, sang during the closing credits. I really love the low sax with synthesized sound in the background for the ending credits during season four and five. I wished they didn't go to the more up tempo jazz and piano playing for the closing theme during seasons 6 through 9. This was just fine.

I don’t even remember the closing theme. This show use to come on Saturday nights on NBC. Anne Marie Johnson was on this show! One of my fave 80’s actresses.
