This is a great video idea. I really need to get myself a chrono. I shoot some older Mathews bows and have no idea what my actual speed is. Always thought they were pretty slow but my draw is 30" so maybe not as bad as I thought. Lol
@farmsteadoutdoors2 күн бұрын
Having a longer draw at 30" is definitely helping you out with the speed so you're probably getting faster speeds than you think but that new Garmin chronograph is super nice and easy to use! I highly recommend picking one up if you're serious about getting the speeds of your bows and even firearms. Thanks for checking out the video!

Worring about arrow speed out of a modern bow is a waste of time. They are all so close now. But you're gonna lose about 20fps when you shorten that draw length up bud. Focus on the things that matter. Form and repeatability. That's what makes a good system.
@farmsteadoutdoors5 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! If you watch the full video you see it's about 10FPS difference with each inch of draw. Just trying to give people an idea of what the bow would be shooting at their each individual draw length at 70#
@bham3116 күн бұрын
So for all the guys out there that let a pro shop tell them to use a larger d-loop on their string to get that extra 1/2 inch of draw length, you’re cheating yourself out of about 5ft/second make them set your draw length to fit you instead of them being lazy and taking the easy way out. (Of course the 5ft/second depends on your individual bow). Another great video…keep them coming!

My algorithm must’ve just found this channel today but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. I have a lift 33, 29.5” draw, 70lbs mod (73lb draw weight), 436gr Easton Axis 5mm and am consistently getting 293-294FPS through the chrono(same garmin). If be curious if you increased your draw length (just for testing) to see how much more speed you could get.
@farmsteadoutdoors8 күн бұрын
Glad you found the channel and thanks for watching! Draw length plays more of a factor to the speed of the bow than the poundage. Increasing my draw 1” or 1.5” will increase the speed by 10-15fps. Maybe I’ll have to do this in a future video! Thanks for the idea 😃

You would need a different spine arrow at these draw weights so it's really less of a difference than it would indicate. You'd need like a 260 at 80, 300 at 70, and 340 at 60...
