I'm blown away with how much time and detail went into making this video. No fluff, just info. That's absolutely amazing. I'd like to see more in depth videos like this one. The visual aids really help me understand the information too. Thanks also for giving supplementary info for square-foot gardeners. Well done!

In Alberta; seed saving is illegal for most grains. some big company, or the government, owns the DNA of the grain so you are not allowed to save the seed.

In order to test the truth of free range...you'd have to raise the same breed of chicken, and just let them roam; and feed them every other day see what kind of yield you get.

LOTS of quality information, in a dense (no-nonsense) format. Had to set this one on repeat 3X and with a notepad in hand. This is some QUALITY content. Subscribed on the spot. Well done!👍💯

Eggs take a lot of energy! Crazy how such a tiny creature needs like a fifth as much as a small adult human. Wait how many caloreis donwe need lol. 1500 right?
@CedarHillsHomesteadСағат бұрын
I based my calculations on 2000 calories per adult per day, but honestly we need more than that if we’re actively working a farm or homestead- especially if you don’t have the help of machinery. I lose weight on 1,500 calories a day but that’s as an active 5’6 tall, 27 year old woman. It’s very different for everyone 😊

My white Pekin ducks outlay any chicken I've tried. Bigger eggs and less money to feed. I like feeding sprouted grains.

So you just talk to people you don’t actually do it you don’t actually do any of it I seen your videos you just calculated a whole bunch of different ideas might as well just go play a game on the computer about farming why don’t you practice what you preachis it too difficult will it take up too much time? Can you not grow food because you did not fertilize your ground because it looks like you need some fertilizer I think you are spending too much time trying to be famous.😢

You forgot about how much food it costs to grow your plants 🌱 🌽🌽🌽🌾🌾🌾🥬🥬🥬🥬🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛 the plants are hungry also I will tell you one way that will help put a really tight Orchard all the way around your entire property of fruit trees Get everybody’s lawn clippings and pile that around the bottom of all your fruit trees get some sticks some branches put that in there. Also that way the chickens can’t dig it all up find worms find everything you possibly can and put it around your fruit trees and grapes that are growing all around you. What’s your establish a major food source that is that large you could have everything else easily always keep lots of fertilizer and nutrients on your ground where you’re going to grow your crops, even if it takes a few years to prepare the land to make it fertile enough with nutrients and minerals to grow your vegetables before you even get your chickens you grow all your food process it have it stored properly I will let you know a secret let the corn dry naturally on the stalk if you still have sun, put it in the sun, then bring it into an area that has ventilation understand what a corn crib is. If it doesn’t have ventilation, it will mildew if it’s not dry enough and you will lose everything. Have your entire lawn clover 🍀 Plantain not grass Grid the chickens in sections but don’t put them in the garden. That’s where your plants are. That’s where some of them need to stay so they can develop Seeds for next year. You never let the chickens have free garden, or any other creatures because you gave up on it And water clean water😊

Look into making a black soldier fly bug box. The pupae are a great crude protein, super clean, and they grind down scapes to a low grade compost that's perfect for worms to break down. Capture and propagation is pretty easy too. Good to supplement feeding fish too if you have aquaculture.

The ones who talk about how they got away with something and didn't die are the ones who didn't die. You talk to the lucky ones, sometimes. Not necessarily the smart ones.

I am very interested in your rabbit fat soap/tallow mix idea. I've always wondered what to do with the extra fat, it seems like such a waste.

I fenced in about an acre for the birds to graze. They have the richest brightest yolks. I also feed them all the weeds I pull from my garden and grass clippings.

I've had chickens, ducks, quail, rabbits and small homestead pigs (AGH, Kune). If I was serious about raising animals to keep my family alive in a pinch, with no access to feed stores, I would bet on the pigs. Chickens wouldn't stand a chance. Just like so many crops humans have selectively bred to produce under tightly controlled circumstances, chickens are inefficient and weak animals. I only grow crops that have the reputation of being weeds and the only farm animal that can survive on its own and "grow like a weed" is the pig. This is a lovely well researched presentation, but I would change the title to "Why Chickens suck." Corn also sucks.

TY I'm a novice duck-keeper, and I've been making half their feed and fermenting for several months now based on research I did online. Wish I would have had this instructional before I came up w my recipe...will be adjusting accordingly. Thanks bunches! I'm now subscribed...😘
