How do you find out what exact color name it was that your vehicle was originally painted? I mean, sure, for the DOL, you just put whatever you think is closest, like "blue" or "green" or whatever, but the exact name or number or whatever of the color is a total mystery. So how can I find out what exact color mine is?

I had a worse situation. The bolt was stripped to hell. The brake line was broken so I cut it to get a better grip on the bolt, and I stripped it even further. It was pretty much completely rounded at this point. Luckily, I was able to get a perfect fit with a vice grip to get that sucker off

Don't buy any USED car from the rust belt if you value your money! If they made the pin in the latch handle out of stainless steel, NOBODY WOULD HAVE THIS PROBLEM with this handle. Poor engineering, the replacement part should have been upgraded.

I’ve never thought to just run the reverse wire into the plug…how does that work? How much wire did you expose?
@6thGearGarage
@6thGearGarage 4 күн бұрын
I just stuck the end of the wire right into the terminal of the plug. It's a much less invasive method than cutting/splicing into the factory wiring. There was already a little bit of the insulation stripped from the end of the wire from the manufacturer, and that was just enough.

Back in the oder days my dad, grand dad, and great uncle used used motor oil and diesel fuel in a garden pumpp up sprayer to under coat there pick ups ! Here to tell you my great uncle had the cleanest working 74 International 4x4 3/4 ton with 401 4speed !And 72 olds 98 in the late 80's that would make new car owers jealous ! No rust on either of those cars and he moved here to WV from Akron Ohio ! So wasn't like he moved from the south to WV ! He moved from salt city Ohio to mid state sinderville WV ! Yes sinders (extra small black stones spinkled on intersections and hills to add traction in iceyand snow conditions !)

Sorry. u try. very messy. u cut down all the crack lines deeper to fill in the foam. U should fill in the crack only. the foam end up cover the whole area which is very unnecessary Creating more work for yourself. looks horrible. U might as well spray the whole dash. With proper preparations and the right glue the vinyl wrap would have been cleaner and faster. Final note . ebay would have been a better options lmao
@6thGearGarage
@6thGearGarage 6 күн бұрын
Yep, you have to also remove the surrounding foam to take out the crowning for a flat surface in the end. If you watch the video, the whole dash was sprayed. My viewers asked me to try to repair it this way so here it is. I already did a repair with vinyl wrap here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqhpeq59t669foE.html and I agree, that is the better way. Old dashboards have been out of production for 30+ years, ebay isn't much help there.

@6thGearGarage I appreciate the link! I'm torn on doing vinyl because this is more of an offroad toy than a restoration - and to avoid reflection on the dash I've been considering repairing the crack as you have here, priming it and flocking it. I tend to get a lot of reflection off the hood and dash so flocking the dash and painting the hood flat black are on my list. I may try using stretch fabric we used in car audio instead... we'll see! Thanks for a great video.
