Drives me crazy that there is no way to find home on the Volume knob (top left) on the KO2, do you know of any way to enter a precise volume either by actually having the display SHOW the volume when you turn the knob, or by punching in a volume???

No, I don't think there is one I'm afraid, and it seems to be an actual potentiometer rather than a rotary encoder, I think it's impossible.

Hi, enjoying these python MIDI videos. Do you know if these libraries work via Jupyter/Colab running in a browser? I'd imagine they can't see the ports in these container-type environments. Cheers
@mochreach
@mochreach 7 күн бұрын
They'll work with a jupyter notebook that's running locally, but for Colab, the MIDI data isn't forwarded from the host machine to your client machine via WebMIDI. Glad you're enjoying the videos, thanks for watching!

cool video i hope when they do the firmware update we get 1. sampling input whilst playing sequence so we can sing or play a guitar in time with the music. 2. resampling to add fx to the sample to bake them in to the sound...such as adding reverb or eq also repitching so 1/2 the sample memory used in a sample.

Well, if you know Python, I'd recommend looking into a library called Mido for handling midi events and a GUI library (I'd recommend PyQT).

Hi @JahidulislamRuman, sorry I didn't see this message when it came in. If you want to write it in Python, I would suggest the PyQT library for making the GUI and Mido for handling midi connections. If you're not determined to use Python, you might want to consider using the Godot game engine, it is open source and a pleasure to use, and comes with some MIDI integration (although not MIDI out, but this is easy to implement using an external library).

Hello, I'm a beginner, I have a question: what is connected to the end of the jack cable? I tried to connect the output of the KO II with a jack cable on line 1 of a focusrite scarlett2i2 to have the KO II on my DAW: but when I use the PAN, it doesn't work, the sound is mono. The problem comes from the focusrite. How do I get the stereo sound of KO II on my DAW?
@mochreach
@mochreach 2 ай бұрын
Hi @MM1M121, hopefully you've solved this already, I just saw it. You need a stereo mini jack to dual mono 1/4" jack cable, then connect both of the mono channels to each input on your Focusrite Scarlett. Make sure you have similar gains for each input. I have a similar audio interface and that's how I've got things set up in this video.

Can you write a program that compares the current midi input with a stored midi song from a database?
@mochreach
@mochreach 4 ай бұрын
Yes, that's definitely possible. Using the "mido" library would be the best way to do that, it has lots of functionality for working with midi files.
@TheCautionwetpaint
@TheCautionwetpaint 4 ай бұрын
@@mochreach thanks... Follow up question though, is it possible to write a program that distinguishes song sections from the drum beat and playing sequence... Like if I want to automatically display lyrics on the screen for each song section when the section is actually being played in the input... I understand that the current pattern being played should compare from a stored song pattern and sequence... Or maybe is there a program or device that does that already?
@mochreach
@mochreach 4 ай бұрын
I think the easiest way would be to have a record of the best number the lyrics should be displayed on, maybe a file with the best number and the lyric line to display, then read that in and count the beats while playing. Would that work?
@TheCautionwetpaint
@TheCautionwetpaint 4 ай бұрын
@@mochreach I thought that if it was a live performance chances are the beats may not align... That is why I thought there should be some pattern recognition as well...
@mochreach
@mochreach 4 ай бұрын
🤔 If you just keep track of the current beat of the stored song, that's the only thing that should matter, right? There's a Discord server associated with the channel, you're welcome to chat about this there, might be easier to keep track of things. Link at the top of the channel page.

The time signature counts the numerator at the speed of the denominator. So for 9/8, it counts 9 eighth notes for each bar. So each note is the span of an eighth note, 9 times, then goes to the 2nd bar. In the 2/2, two is a long length of actual time as a half note length, so it's counting the "8" notes of time in between each count of the half note, and after 2 half notes, the bar ends. I hope this helps add some clarification for the time signatures!
