Cant do anything about homelessness, these homeless have felonies, fried brains from years of meth, no work skills, they run out of welfare money so they steal other peoples stuff for drugs. Everytime a homeless person gets a section 8 studio they bur it down of make the neighbors a living hell. Years of being on the streets makes them feral. As long as government completely useless.

Sherwood is a clean little town. I do not live there, but I run errands there. I like it there. It is quaint.

Buses and Max are great and easily accessible. You obviously did no research on the bus lines.

Highway 26 tunnel is not in Hillsboro silly. Nike and Intel are big companies. Don't drive by them during rush hour silly. Also, there are other routes to Portland. I too do not like going through the tunnel on 26 (although, Portland / Beaverton own that). A lot of your complaints are about how hard it is to get to Portland from Hillsboro. Try living in Portland silly.

If you don't have a car, forget it. And if you do have a car, get used to mind numbing traffic jams.

I live in Portland and ride the bus and Max train all the time. The trains and busses smell so bad. Almost every time I ride public transit, it smells like poop because so many smelly people ride.

Thank you!!! You covered the information on the homeless situation and safety. I lived in Oregon and now in Tennessee but I want to move back. I’m considering Vancouver. I appreciate this post so much. I’m not buying a home. Thanks again!! I also lived in Ca. I was born and raised there. 😊

#1 The locals. Look, it's my Childhood home. When I was growing up, I had to deal with insufferable people who felt that Jackson Elementary School which is a local School to Hillsboro literally belonged exclusively to the People from the Jackson School subdivision and made sure you knew how unwelcome you were at every turn. I got a Front row Seat to Class warfare living there as a Property Dispute was ongoing over whether people who lived on the wrong side of Jackson School road should go to Jackson or be bussed up the Road to one of the other Schools and over zoning laws about who should be allowed to go to Jackson. They Felt entitled to it belonging to them alone and tried like the Dickens to push to get kids like me who grew up on the Other side of the Road bussed up to more run down schools. People around here suck, They Engaged In Flagrant Class warfare. Also, their Demonic Spawn Children engaged in a massive bullying and did they scold them for it even once? No. Boys will be boys, they figured. I got picked on a lot by the Local Demon spawn (their kids) growing up. Like You want to know why Hillsboro Sucked in the 1990s? The people living there is why.

I grew up in a suburb on the outskirts of the big city. Much safer, much better community and quiet. I have a car and don’t mind driving where I need to go. 15 min to get to the grocery store is not a big deal to me since I only go maybe once a week, realistically it’s more like 12min. The houses are also much bigger and cheaper

It is a very peaceful, beautiful place to live. Once you live here, you learn back ways to get to freeways. But, there are beautiful backroads with gorgeous scenery.

I moved to Vancouver a year and a half ago. It is pretty much devoid of culture but has a good Saturday market. Things shut down early. There's only a few good bars and a few breweries. Regular bars are rough and attract a fighting crowd. It's a suburban strip mall life and the downtown is very small. The new waterfront offers a bit of upscale dining.

Uh…did you miss they closed down a Starbucks in Downtown St. Johns on N Lombard several years ago, across from that little St. Johns square? So…no.

I graduated from Tigard HS a couple moons ago. Sherwood is not Portland but I realize Portland has sprawled out that direction. Certainly not the same as when I was out causing trouble. There used to be a comfortable separation from “Portland”. I’m not sure if they still enjoy that separation from, “keep it weird” town?

I disagree with your comments about Ridgefield schools. Over crowded and multiple levies to build new schools for booming population are not passing. Kids classes in gyms etc, Extreme folks voting against needed schools. Only move to Ridgefield if you are a senior.

I've live here for 43 years and I do not see anything wrong until after 2020. The Rose City is long gone and have been destroy to the bottom of the hell. Any of you wanted to move in to Oregon, you maybe made a wrong choice. Think it over and make a right choice for your life and for the future of your children.

I’d say correct except for the fact that we are trying to fix our problems by replacing those who created them. We are also growing up late. Measure 110 was a terrible idea I did not vote for it. I think magical thinking has come to an end here in Pdx and along with that goes those creative mindset that help create it ( the golden era Pdx). Balancing act.

Google "Cascadia Subdcutiob Zone Earthquake" Any structure along the Columbia River in Clark County will liquify and collapse in the major earthquake, due anyday. We highly advise, stay away from living near major rivers and the ocean in WA and OR.

I grew up in Portland in the Alameda neighbor hood. I went to Alameda grade school , Grant HS and later to OSU. I now live in Vancouver because of the lack of income taxes. Noq they snuck n a retractive capital gain tax. I am going to leave WA state and the US all together. The US is doomed. It is corrupt beyond redemption. Bad police, bad prosecutors, bad judges and bad politicians. The whole left coast is doomed. When I grew up it was safe to take a bus from 28th and Skdmore to down town Portland. Now who wants to get to down town Portland. The house I grew up in was built in 1920. The curb was imported with 1910. There were rings to tie up horses. There are homeless people camping along the burnt bridge walk way that goes roughly from 92nd Ave to Vancouver Lake. I recenrly had a bike stolen from my garage. In 2021 I was assulted and threaten with a semi-automatic pistol in Battle Ground. The police are corrupt. So are the prosecutors. I am leaving. I don't recommend Vancouver WA or the left coast at all. I do hope to sell my condo. I am moving out of the country.

TRAFFIC ISSUE: A classical issue of all American towns. There is virtually no planning in regards to public transportation. There should be a Regional Express train system with a conversion of shopping malls into train stations with high density walkable housing.

Probably one of the most vile societies I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. Pretty much at the top of the food chain in prosperity yet the attitude is disgusting. Police harassment by high school rejects who have never seen a lick of real action. Extreme cowardliness. Seems like the residents bend over and allow it to be a police state by letting cameras and computers do the job of minting as much money as possible from people for committing the crime of passing through there and not being as rich as them. No crime happens there so they will pick on just about anyone, that's really not the point. I've been threatened with a gun 3 times as a driver in my life and I have never felt more unsafe or in danger than when an officer there pulled me over (for going too fast on a stop sign), yelled and screamed at me, and tried to insinuate I was reaching for a gun when it was really my wallet, all while clearly at work with a car full of medical packages because of some shit this bitch read on Twitter probably. I got a ticket, I took it to court, and because my car has a black plastic bumper the judge said that maybe I looked like the kind of person who would rob a 7/11 and that's why she had to follow me for half a mile before pulling me over. Granted he was trying to get me off once he found out I was at work but it still rubbed me the wrong way. Usually arrogant status based people live there. I hope to be wrong one day, and to see something to change my mind. Because it's a pretty place.

Lived here for 10 years. Been coming to visit since i was born. My moms side of the family lives here. Things were great till recently. Things i dont like. 1.Tweakers /bums 2. Property crime (car prowlers) 3. Lakes are polluted (toxic algae) 4. Traffic. Going anywhere is nearly 30 plus min 5. Agressive /bad drivers (i lived in a few states and this region takes the cake for horrible drivers) 6. Over crowded. In the 90s early 2000s you can go anywhere and find a parking spot. Today its a pain just to find a spot at costco. All the recreation sites are full of oregon plates . 7. Part of the reason i moved to WA instead of back to san diego after i served in the seabees was the gun laws were much better in WA. That changed a few years ago now my family and i are leaving the state. Not everything here is bad ,things i like 1. Doesnt take long to get away. 2. Beautiful land. 3. Nice summers Thats about it. This region has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. And not for the better.
