Hi Archer: This wine is a “beast” and can age for decades. Because of its high tannins, I would decant a young Sagrantino (under 20 years old). Decanting older wines, you run the rush of losing fruit notes. I gave another video called the Science of Aging Wine. You may want to check it out. Cheers, Dave

Hi ggbr07: That is correct. When Henri Bouchet created the grape, he crossed Grenache and a family grape to make this varietal. I explain that at the beginning of the video but didn’t name Garnacha Tintorera by name. My bad. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Dave

Fyi… don’t pronounce the C at the end of Blanc when saying Sauvignon Blanc. It’s incorrect and makes you lose credibility - message from a wine learner, but a French native. Thanks for the video!

Hi Vincent: Hmm, so you are saying Sauvignon Blanc is pronounced Sauvignon Blan in France? Can’t say I have ever heard that even after visiting the ancestral home of the grape in Loire or southern Bordeaux. Maybe all the vintners I met were all just humoring me, lol. I’m just glad you are exploring my channel. 200 videos strong and by far the most comprehensive source for wine knowledge on the internet. Cheers, Dave

Blanc means white in French. So it doesn’t matter if it’s in Sauvignon Blanc or le camion blanc. The c is silent in the word “blanc”. Anyway, my point was, as a beginner I’m looking for people who’s knowledge I can trust, and mispronouncing (or anglophoning it) one of the most common grapes jumped out at me. Doesn’t mean you don’t know your stuff of course. So, since you’re helping me with wine knowledge, I thought I’d give you this little tip !

Always like that you do pieces on the lesser known grapes. That said, Württemberg is not a town, but a wine growing region that unlike most German regions, focuses mainly on red wines. Additionally, Württemberg is in the state of Baden-Württemberg, not Bavaria. Baden in its own right is also a very good wine region, which in my opinion, has the best red wines in Germany!!

Hi Nodoubtbb: Thank you for tuning into my channel. I hope you will check out some of my other 200 videos. Great question, some Muscadet can have a yeasty or creamy taste/texture. It all depends on aging time. The reason why Champagne is more yeasty is due to the fact that it’s aged 18 months, minimum. Cheers, Dave

Big congratulations on your Milestone!! After learning by reading and watching educational videos like yours, tasting has been tremendous to understanding wine, particularly comparative flights. My favorite was a mini-horizontal of 2 wines from the same vintage and main grape but from its entry vs. mid-level wines. Both were very enjoyable, but the fancier one was noticeably different and more than justified the 70% price premium! Keep the awesome videos coming!!🥳🍾🍷
