I'm so sorry about your dad, I know it was 2019 but I had a bit of a break from dollhouse stuff and I was sad to see this, he put a lot into your hobby and the fact that he was such a skilled carpenter really shows in everything you two did. I just checked your facebook and am having a look at your playlists to see what else I missed. You put it beautifully when you said he was always loved and never forgotten❤

I was checking out your FB and saw this and after screenshotting your dad's dollhouse ruler came over to watch this video. Its incredible that you are showing alternatives to clay because theres a lot of people like me, who have a bad relationship with polymer clay!
@DollhouseTutorials2 сағат бұрын
Thank you, I think I like this better than the store-bought clay so far. Since I had everything in my house already, I was able to make all my dollhouse food for free. The only exception is you can only make what you need, or it will go bad, and it takes longer to dry/harden however, I plan on doing a test on low heat in the air-dry oven to see if that will work. Ill post it if it does work out.

Hey Laurie, nice to hear your voice again. I’m looking forward to seeing the food video. I don’t have the craft space to try this myself right now but I’m wondering how using India or alcohol inks would color this clay. I’m curious if they would give a bit of translucency for fruits and vegetables. It’s just a little thought that I can’t check out. Anyone tried it? Thanks for sharing!

I was thinking maybe sharpies. I'm have alcohol markers, but I've rarely used them. I wasn't sure whether alcohol markers or sharpies would be better. Do they behave differently or wear off differently? Oh, PS.... I meant to say that I saved a lot of acetate covers that are used when binding manuals and stuff. I was going to used those. They can be easily cut with an X-acto or utility knife, and they are stiff enough to sandwich into a window. :)
@DollhouseTutorialsАй бұрын
I've used sun catcher paint and sharpies but I'm not sure about anything else. However, you can also sublimate on plastic too! I have a video of my fish with this method.

@TodaysSpecialMinisАй бұрын
Oh wow, this it heaps better than the original. This is why we keep perfecting the technique because these look really good!!! I don't even think they need the added details scraped in on the bottom. And yeah that other pan with all the dents would be great for a pan after and event because it looks used and with. You can make a tray of food with most of it eaten in that one Very cool! You should also try the laminating sheet lids with this method and see how they turn out. Pop them in the form, hammer down, heat it up with a torch or blow dryer or whatevs and see what happens. Might come out nice!
@DollhouseTutorialsАй бұрын
Thank you
@TodaysSpecialMinisАй бұрын
I like the effect with the plastic lid and the laminating sheets. I'll have to try that. The pans themselves are ok, but a tad clunky looking. They def need some tweaking, but you're on the right track. I just think the wood form may be too thick or tight or something. The ridges on the form barely show up on the pan after scraping with the brush... It might translate better if you add the dimension to the smooth wood pan shape that way it would be pressed or hammered into the foil. Just a suggestion. I think the base on the pie plate needs to be wider and it needs to be more shallow instead of like a blunted pyramid. The finished pie would almost come out looking like an upside down mound or hill a flat little base. But, like i said, great ideas. I might try to make something similar to see what kind of results i can get as miniature serving trays is on my mini to do list.
