You guys are such lovely parents, however I would respectfully ask why your two beautiful boys don't wear broad brimmed hats when outdoors? Both Mum and Dad have hats , but the boys don't? As a bloke past 60, I'm paying the price for a misspent youth in the sun. Love watching your family travels ❤

So your desal system still out of action until you get yourself another Karcher pressure washer (pump)? With direct access to all that (sea) water, it's a shame you can't make use of it to get all the water you could ever need/want and at least take that straight off your huge 'to do' list 🙂

G'day Simon. I noticed a quick glimpse of the portable water filtration case in your video that I had dropped off to you and Liz (we all stayed at the Subscribers Hipcamp at Hervey Bay a little while ago) as requested by 'Bob' from The Thirsty Nomad. How well did it work? Having had a quick look at the system when I Bob dropped it off at my place and reading through the instructions that came with it, I think I know the answer to that but I'm keen to hear your thoughts. Before seeing Bob's device, I was thinking of making a similar portable water filtration system myself using my Bluetti (AC200Max) to power the pump. The device I was thinking of building would only work for filtering freshwater from a river or creek and definitely not saltwater unlike your desal system and I most likely wouldn't drink the water unless I absolutely had to (would still boil and sterilise it if so).

Hey! Yeah, it's pretty good. It works well. We haven't tested the water scientifically at all but we're happy with it's performance.

What's happening with the Desalination set-up. Still not going.
@TheLifestylePioneersКүн бұрын
Yep, still going. May as well get water when we're in town anyway. We did 3 weeks without going into town, but couldn't do that with it.

Love seeing Harrison & James enjoying fishing and definitely will have a crack at those fish cakes. We’ve left the Ningaloo Coast and now just past Fitzroy Crossing and have had similar heat issues as you on the side of our van. I got Titanium to fit a shade sail track to the fridge side of the van and it only takes 10 mins max to set up the shade wall and the difference inside the van is massive… may help keep your electrical cabinet cooler… safe travels.

Just started watching your channel a month ago. Love it. Planning a big lap in a coup of years with wife and twin girls. Those fish cakes looked a treat. Hey try next time when crumbing- 1 wet hand (egg) & 1 dry hand (flour and crumb) you’ll see why when you give it a whirl. It’s one of the best cooking tips. Pass it around. Keep the good time trackin. 😊

You had to get water when you went to town? And you got water in the dunes while staying out on the coast. Is that telling me that desalination outfit you fitted was a waste? Or is it justifiable?

@TheLifestylePioneersКүн бұрын
The RO unit works well, but it has some limitations. We'll be doing an update video on it soon. We had to go into town for food, but you may as well get water while you're there. We managed 3 weeks without water which is pretty good for us!

As always love the vids, weather looked great. Especially when it snowing here in the Brindies atm. Maybe try some sail track and a small shade sail on that side as well. Will help keep the van cool as well in summer. Also you could look at some small computer fans to keep the air circulation going.

Thanks for the idea, maybe one day. There are fans in there but we still had a lot of heat build up.

Awesome videos and great channel! Love the rawness of the videos. Will you need to consider underbody protection? Does the tank need any additional protection also? Or if that if you plan to go heavy into the trails Cheers from Melbourne
@TheLifestylePioneers4 күн бұрын
Thanks so much. The Ranger was pretty well protected from factory (we've since sold it and bought a Landcruiser). The tank is also pretty durable and tucked away, we didn't have any issues. Cheers

Good idea to slip stream to save fuel, but you need to be at least 3m or closer to the vehicle in front to get any sort of benefits. And the benefits can be up to 40% savings (particularly behind a semi-trailer). But following a vehicle that close from behind on an open highway is not very safe. Nice idea though.
@TheLifestylePioneers6 күн бұрын
Cheers. In our experience, it doesn't need to be anything near that close when you're towing a big caravan. It might be the case with a vehicle only.

Enjoyed your latest video. Just please note that it is not good practice to clip the front seat belt to avoid the sensor going off and not wear the belt correctly especially when you are sending this video out in the public domain. Seat belts save lives and it could save yours.☹
