Mine are no grain horses for years. I fed some oats at the start, which was a bad decision. I have learned a lot. I use mostly Triple Crown Balancer Timothy Cubes soaked with no molasses beet pulp now.

I am in the process of switching my two thoroughbreds onto forage based! 🤞🏻Figuring it out as I go. One of them has bad ulcers currently and I’m thinking he’s had them for quite awhile I didn’t know. Just makes sense to get them onto their natural diet :)

I’ve listened to a lot of equine nutritionist and the minerals horses are deficient in the most when doing an all forage diet is copper, zinc, and selenium. I like that you did a test after a while of them being purely on forage. I am surprised the ration balancer didn’t supplement them enough but you did your homework just to double check! Thank you for sharing and educating. Horses can’t be on JUST forage because of the stress and work we put them under. Wild horses usually do not live as long and are not under as much stress as our domesticated horses. This is a great video!
