Most people will never experience the level of anxiety that occurs during pre-start maneuvering with 50+ boats in the starting sequence.

What is your guide for spinnaker pole trim and height?
@oddvardmyrnes904011 ай бұрын
I am sailing an Albin Express 26ft boat in Norway, and the J24 seems to me like a 1-man boat. The helmsman does almost everything, while the rest is just passengers. The trimmer has only the spinnaker to worry about, and the tactician seems also to be the helmsman. This is not a boat I would care to compete in. Rather a J70 or a Melges 24 for a small size boat other than an Albin Express. Looks like it was filmed at the Garda Lake in Italy.

Helmsman only trims main and drives. What on earth are you talking about mate?

@@DoubtCanEdit .. I have never sailed a J24. I say what it looks like to me. Maybe I am wrong.

@@oddvardmyrnes9040 J70's and M24's both have A sym kites. Requires less crew work as you dont need a bow man switching the pole. J24's are slow and clunky but all guys are active

@@DoubtCanEdit .. It looks like a fun boat, and I hope I can try it someday. But for now I am stuck with an Albin Express. Swedish design from the 80's. Fantastic old boat that can handle heavy & light air with ease. Trim sensitive as you ever sailed. And it is cheap. A bit of tinkering and off you go. Sailed Melges 24 for a number of years, but too hard on my back. But fun. Sailing is life 😎

Zero communication within the team. How can you call this good teamwork? The helmsman acts by himself and expects his crew to read his mind.
@LagleSailingTeam11 ай бұрын
wait, did you just call a second place boat in J24 (one of the most competetive boat class in the world) world championship a bad teamwork?
@richardofoz216711 ай бұрын
@LagleSailingTeam I sure am. You sound offended. Were you on that boat, or beaten by them? Surely you're not suggesting that good teamwork in a crew of four does not require good communication. If they shared their intentions and observations with each other instead of ghosting around like deaf mutes, they'd stand a better chance of coming first next time.

Great crew work. Quiet boat. No drama. Excellent job!

No drama for sure, but not a word of communication within the team either! How can that be good?

It can be tricky sailing close to a shoreline surrounded by mountains like that. The locals would have an advantage knowing how and where the winds are affected by the landscape.
