What style would king crimson fit in and which styles started progressive rock?
@AlexBecerra5 күн бұрын
King Crimson was mainly progressive rock, with influences of art rock, psychedelic rock and free improvisation. Jazz fusion was most likely responsible for the development of prog rock. Matter of fact, Robert Fripp has mentioned John McLaughlin as one of his influences.

I have used this video as an optimal response to somebody posting this comment to another video: 'But he better watch out he doesn't get shanked by a Harkonnen apparently.' 'This is how you beat the rhythm beast.' <links this video>

I'm Brazilian, I have a lot of doubts about understanding jazz (except bossa nova for obvious reasons) but I would like to know if there is a style that mixes Ragtime with swing because I see many types of swing, some in minor keys (which look like ragtime). I've been looking for this "swing - ragtime" for days but I can't find the exact name... Could you help me?

Also, is ECM (Ralph Towner, Garbarek, Rypdal) a genre? It’s mostly just instrumentation, but doesn’t have much swing or jaziness

I was gonna try to organize it chornologically but fuck that... Random question Icould google but don't feel like doing because I get to flaunt my dick a little. Is Steve Coleman, the founder of the term m-base, at all related to Ornette Coleman... I had to ask chat GPT which said no... LAAAAME

Happy to see Dolphy and Miles, the first "free" musicians I got into back in high school. For me, the greatest free jazz album is Coltrane's Olatunji Concert. Pure, horrifying beauty. Feels like it was predicting grindcore and harsh noise decades before they started.
