I remember watching this show. Lee Majors eventually left to star on “The Six Million Dollar Man”. “Owen Marshall” was from the same producers as “Marcus Welby, M.D.” In fact, characters from each show would appear on the other.

I think a lot of these fires were/are set on purpose.

When Oakland was still halfway decent. Now it’s downright petrifying. In 1992 I was 3 years away from becoming a 911 dispatcher for 24 years. I cannot fathom working a wildfire. I worked for 3 agencies in 3 counties just outside of Chicago, and only experienced 1 brush fire from a controlled burn that became out of control. That was the worst, and hardest call I experienced only because I had nothing to work off of, and was all alone as the only fire dispatcher in the room. Forty three pieces of equipment, I shut down an expressway whose next exit was O’Hare Airport. Kudos to all of California’s Emergency Services Division…Forestry, Fire, Police, Dispatchers!!! I saw this movie in it's entirety recently. It's so sad. It makes no sense that they would place a black child with a known racist. Most of the "humour" in this movie comes from the father making racial slurs and stereotypes at the black boy, Freddie. (Haywood Nelson) I wonder what his parents were thinking to put him in this movie?

Growing up in Phoenix the NDVDS was a big deal. In those days Carefree was still a sleepy out-of-the-way town and having a celebrity like DVD not only living in nearby Cave Creek but having his new show filmed at Carefree Studios was major for the valley. Angela Powell, who played daughter Annie, was from the valley.

A great depiction of that devestating fire. Will be sad to see this movie go, Ive enjoyed watching it a few times. Thanks so much for posting it.

How horribly tragic fire is. My friend lived in Oakland til he graduated high school. He was 21 when this fire occurred. He still had family in the area. 1.5 billion in damages. I wonder how much that would be today? Probably 100 times that at least. They do have a memorial park named after the fire. My family could have moved to Palo Alto in the 70s for my dad’s job. But my grandmother was sick and my mom was taking care of her so we stayed on the other coast. I think about how I would have been able to see the smoke from this fire from my parents house had we moved to Ca. I’m glad I wasn’t there to see it. I’ve only seen small wildfires up close here. Nothing even close to the magnitude of this fire. I feel for those who lost loved ones and their homes and businesses.
