I’m having a throwback attack: I miss the days when the entire course wasn’t cordoned off. When you could actually get lost x-country (and yes, I DID!) It’s a different sport now. Not better, imho; but not worse either. Just different. Less of a test of horse and rider, more of a contest of financial backing and reputation. Not so much about a thinking rider and horse, but more about cracking a formula and having the funds to assemble the year’s best team. Used to be such a joy to watch teams develop-and a scandal when someone brought a horse too young to the 4-5 stars. Might Tango springs to mind.

Now?? Feels all “whitewashed” to me. Makes me feel a little sad.

I try to make my videos as entertaining as possible! I keep the background music very low to allow people to still hear and feel like they’re here with me but I personally feel the music makes it more enjoyable. Thank you for feedback, I’m always looking to try and improve my videos 😊

Horse and rider are very lucky to survive. XC is becoming so dangerous with all the new stylized fences. Horses and riders die. It’s dangerous. I wouldn’t be surprised if that horse has a career-ending injury. They aren’t meant to jump so many huge logs in one run. I support Eventing (I do Eventing as well) but this upper-level stuff? Sometimes it seems more like they want the crowd watching rather than the safety of the horses and riders.

Course designers and many other people are trying really hard to make the courses as safe as possible. With new frangible devices and flexible brush along with many other ways to make eventing more safe. If riders want to keep doing it they understand the risk for themselves and their horses. Just because a few people think that it should stop is not good enough. It is the rider who knows what can happen and deiced to take those risks. I understand but we already lost the Eventing 3 day long format. We should not have to lose eventing overall.
