Training of the mind to think is not what most corporate cultures need people for. Corporate main focus and aim is to maximize profit even if the venture turned out to be catastrophic on the long run. For instance, Big Pharma is not interested in finding simple inexpensive treatment for chronic diseases. If a critical mind discovers that some herb or diet or simple lifestyle is a cure from most chronic diseases, Big Pharma may actually try to distant or eliminate such critical thinker. Mainstream science is politicized for corporate gain and the preservation of the status quo. To what extent critical thinking could make a difference in the course of finding mass solutions for humanity problems is undetermined. Some genius geological engineer might come up with a brilliant and efficient way to dig up oil from the ground in the middle of the ocean, but oil production and consumption will continue to be detrimental to the welfare and health of humans at the same time when other simple forms of energy that require much less science or technology to produce is available. Education wrongfully maintains the notion that intellectual complexity is a requirement to finding solutions. It takes more than knowledge of complex issues to solve problems. Most often, nature is designed in a such a way to choose the least resistance path to do things. We must learn from nature.

Noam Chomsky knows nothing about economics and comes to all kinds of wrong ideas about what economic policies we should follow based on his lack of understanding of this subject, so it’s ironic that he’s giving this talk.

Thank you so much for this! I teach English/reading comprehension to Deaf adults. There is no way they can listen to and acquire English. However, after instruction using American Sign Language as a bridge to English print, they improve their reading comprehension bit by bit. With support, their reading takes off!

I had the same result with learning Italian. I tell you, the first 6 months was the best. Back then it was audio cassettes, CD's and grammar books with dialogues. Then I moved on to reading and using audio when Mp3 came out. Yes reading interesting articles has a lot of impact

One of his tools was for white teachers to wear cool sneakers as a way to connect w/ students. His views are racist & problematic but no one calls him out because he is a black educator and presents solutions in a palatable feel good way rather than questioning the systems in place.

A. The country they once knew and want to bring back again never existed and was never America. It is just another Trump lie. .B. The failure to realize the close parallels in lie structure and similar desperate fates between Putin and Trump and how they cannot be explained as coincidental Trump, the ultimate '' honey trap'' patzy is owned and groomed by Putin and the KGB/GRU etc.The Republican right has been well and truly penetrated. Trump in his lies practices '' whataboutism'' and ''maskirovka''. all Russian KGB deception art.The latest among many examples is believing a fraud and phony like Trump can actually be the subject of a real failed assassination attempt , turn it into a photo op with an air punching fist under a flowing American flag the same as a campaign ad post within a minute of the sniper's bullet passing through then hawking ''assassination sneakers'' within a week. All this when two weeks prior Trump meets the Putin conduit Orban and his ''entourage'' with full diplomatic immunity that cannot be searched. It is practice and choreography time. C Trump was born out of public hatred of political correctness, the Me Too movement, woke, gay marriage that legally is supported by the same constitutional principle as abortion that you can get back if you want to abandon gay marriage, and gender identity. Putin was the first that realized that this invalid vile emotional determinism based in Rousseauism not Marxism could be used to divide the populations of the West and Putin's and then Orban's opposition to it is what made Putin a very popular politician prior to illegally invading Ukraine that was postponed by Covid and Trump not winning a second term for the same reason.. D The crisis in intellect. The Depression era-WWII generation and their children the baby boomers are much smarter generations than the subsequent generations that gave us the technology that has been misused by the education system by putting computers into all subjects at the expense of handwriting and the teaching of ideologically based subjects that do not describe actual external human reality or behavior but are statements of tribal membership. Throw in turning all tertiary education systems into businesses lowering standards with bought degrees where no one ever fails. because it looses money. E. The last is the '' now babblers'' of the twenty four seven news cycle whose sparsely sprinkled truth expires in a day no matter how ongoing and perennial it may be in an industry with no past or memory and therefore no context just a perpetual search for what story maximizes ratings and promotes careers. Aided by the rise of the idiots through social media who bark like dogs that hear a car coming and are thus first into the information space laying down the agenda for debate

So, if I understood correctly, the roots of anti-creativity bias go back to the fact some people have bad timing when it comes to implementing new ideas? Is there additional research to back this up? Or - excuse my pun - is this a creative conclusion drawn from the original anti-creativity bias research?

In a position of power trust and prestige and in a vulnerable position. That children become straycats livng on the streets just like Aids orphans in the nineties and because they had nobody they were vulnerable for abuse by strangers and adults in exchange for food clean water clothes and further care. Straycatkids who are from the street and who were living on the streets. Maybe a fosterhome is a solution because they are minor children. Moral ethics values and beliefs. The red cross had fosterhomes dor aids orphans in the nineties to prevent sexual abuse because they are of minor age.

The man I regard as having got the best education possible (largely on his own steam) is Eckhart Tolle. This quote is the clincher: “The greatest achievement of humanity is not its works of art, science or technology but the recognition of its own dysfunction, its own madness.” I challenge anyone to have a good look around at our world and tell him he got it wrong.

I was in Professor Shannon's class on Victorian Poetry. He dragged us through every line of every poem we read, including "In Memorianlm of Arthur Henry Hallam." No one wanted more of that one. But there was a design behind his methods. Fifty years later, chunks of Victorian poetry pop into my thoughts while just living life! It remains one of the most memorable classes I took at UVa.
