It was Callipeg (the app) putting out a food themed challenge for a given month. There were no digital animation apps (or iPads, or iPhones, or even flip phones) when I was at college!

You are the first person I've ever seen actually teach this correctly. Everyone teaches, "The horizon line", when really it should be "A horizon line", or maybe "the common horizon line". They fail to teach (or don't understand themselves) that horizon lines are NOT a property of the scene, but rather an individual property of each object in the scene. So just as each object has its own vanishing points (which may or may not overlap with those of other objects), each object also has its own horizon lines (which may or may not overlap with those of other objects).

Thanks, and nicely defined! I learned what I know largely as a consequence of on-the-job frustration, curiosity and the desire to avoid future frustration during my continuing storyboarding/illustration (mostly) career. That and getting pointers from other professionals along the way.

Don't forget to apply the anti-slip update (duct tape and a pencil) in the blurb between the video and the comments. Gorilla duct tape is pretty strong stuff.

Thanks Jessica, I'm really happy you are enjoying them! Skillshare. Mmm. I was excited and grateful to be a part of that and really keen to post more classes and see if teaching on their platform could become a viable income stream. It was gradually increasing and I was fired up to keep at it. They had a payment model based on minutes watched, which grew as they grew and as your minutes watched grew. It was fun to check in and see if I was doing better or worse. In Oct they switched to a fixed pool for minutes watched which was suddenly half the size so income from that dropped by half overnight. Then they announced it would be smaller still and not be pegged to their growing platform or increased minutes watched overall. So a fixed size pool. Everyone competing for less. At the same time they seek to recruit more teachers, so the zero sum game gets worse over time for teachers, but of course better for the platform. Like those nature shows where fish in a shrinking lake are eventually gasping for breath in a muddy puddle. They do use some funds to reward a group of their 'quality' teachers for engagement (comments, back and forth, projects posted, etc). They say they notice teachers and elevate them to the group that has 'quality' status as and when they come to their attention and cheerfully encourage all the teachers to strive for 'engagement' and keep posting new classes so they might get noticed too. As you can tell, I'm not in the 'quality' group, and since I'm not posting new classes anymore, or jumping through ever increasing other hoops, never will be. I'm happy to 'engage' any students, but always was, and always will be. I enjoy that. I should move my classes to a different platform. Even if I make less at least I won't feel so shat on!! I know, ungrateful whiner!

Foamcore, sheet metal from Home Depot (check a magnet sticks to it). Tape the metal to a piece of foamcore, and stick another piece over the top. Thinner foamcore (it comes in a few thicknesses). I think 3/8 of an inch. Use good tape like Gorilla Duct Tape. Maybe even use liquid nails glue as well if you are worried about the metal sliding out from between the pieces of foamcore. Get the metal first and cut the foamcore a bit wider and higher than it for the tape. Prop it up on whatever you want. I used a bit of foamcore stuck to a length of cardboard which is angled I got out of a box with a utility in it (to strengthen the box). Taped it with Gorilla tape so it could flip open and more or less flat.
