In the US. It might be illegal to pass somebody on the road where there are double yellow lines. It is a safety hazard. When there is a dotted yellow line and on one solid yellow line it might legal to pass somebody. If there is just a dotted yellow line it might legal to pass somebody.

I’ve both ridden and driven this road numerous times. One thing to watch out for is gravel on the pavement. They’ll respray it periodically and mix in pea gravel, and it will collect in all the areas where car tires aren’t constantly scrubbing it. Also, watch out for wildlife. One trip I took a couple years ago, a moose was spooked by the summer traffic and was berserking down the lanes of the road for quite a stretch before it headed off into the woods. All that being said, this is a great road to ride. Very picturesque.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the ratio of positive versus negative reactions here. I think you made a good ride bad by being in such a hurry. I have never understood why people get so upset at others who are operating legally. There's a tree of shame for a reason, and every part on it is due to someone being a jackass. With photographers at various points on the route, I wanted to make sure they had plenty of time to shoot me as I rode by, not go by in a blur or with some guy sitting on my tail to ruin the image. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qd-GZa-crNa1cmQ.html

Why not just pull over and let the person get ahead by a few minutes? I can understand why the locals get angry and you’ll make them start hating us. But aside from that road rage is bad for your own health. Grow up! It’s a public road not a racetrack.

LOLOLOL - dude, you're on a motorcycle and yet you sat back behind slower traffic for mile after mile and bitched about them without ever passing. Obviously, being the novice rider that you are, perhaps you are not aware of all the amenities your bike has to offer? For instance, the hand grip on your right has what's called a throttle built into it. You twist your wrist and it usually makes your bike go faster. It's what you would use to PASS someone!
