The floors in homes generally are not connected to the earth. They are well insulated with wood framing, carpet, hardwood floors, LVT. If you walk in bare feet all day on those there is no grounding happening. That is why it is important to go outside in those cases. Also our bodies need sunlight for the infrared and UVB spectrums.

I stopped wearing shoes full time back in 1998. I only wear shoes for work and that’s it. Within a month or two, my lower back pain was gone and the tendonitis in my knees was gone. Since that time I can count on one hand how many times I have been ill, so my immune system has received a boost. I love to run, but gave it up after a while because the physical toll was becoming bad. After starting a barefoot lifestyle, I tried running barefoot. The running problem was solved. In regards to the cognitive topic, recent research is suggesting that going barefoot stimulates many areas of the brain because of the 2000+ sensors or nerve endings in the soles of the feet that are providing proprioceptive feedback. Living barefoot is certainly one the healthiest decisions I have ever made. I teach yoga part time and recently became a certified Neurosensory specialist. I stress grounding and barefoot activity to everyone I can. I practice what I preach, so I can relay my own experiences. As I said, work is the only place I wear shoes and they are minimalist shoes. I go everywhere else (stores, restaurants, homes of friends and family, everywhere) barefoot. Once I retire, it will be bare feet 24/7 for me. Great episode! 🙏🏻🙂

Parents are guilty of child abuse when they do not teach their children to walk correctly. You can not walk correctly in shoes.

I am amazed that people don't notice that their feet are screwed up. Just like maintaining healthy weight, people will do ANYTHING to avoid doing what WORKS. It's a foot. It's normal. It's natural. GET OVER IT.

When I was a kid back in the 60s, many of us walked to school bare foot and some of us never owned shoes. We were pretty healthy back then. This is in Hawaii so we never had to worry about snow. Thanks for this discussion. Love to hear what other non American cultures are doing.

Enjoyed your conversation, but this deserves a follow-up. Learned about "grounding" or "earthing " when i got my first reiki treatment recently. Watched Clint Ober's "Earthing" movie. Downloaded his book. Bought some mats about a month ago. 66 yo male. Been sleeping well. Seasonal allergies are improved. But anyway, have also been deep diving into related topics and stumbled onto "barefoot shoes". Which also seem like they could have a lot of benefits. And finally found shoes that were both "barefoot" and "grounding ". And I'll just say, don't be too dismissive of the science related to grounding. Our bodies are electrical as well as chemical. And the electrical charge in our bodies changes when touching the earth. Also our immune system, etc., evolved over millions of years of being barefooted. The modern lifestyle of Nike's and nylon carpets is what is unnatural and unhealthy. And a follow-up pod would be great, but especially if you dig into the science a little more.
@missiondaily2 ай бұрын
Agree! If you check out the full episode, I had a section where I compared our bodies to electrical towers and lines that need to be grounded. Same concept! Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks for the comment and glad to hear about all the improvements in your world!

Do you actually have any idea what quantum physics is about? Let me give you a hint: it has nothing to do with psychology...

@titastotas14166 ай бұрын
@@stephaniepostles7486 of course i am no quantum scientist yet it does not take one to tell that psychology isn't an area that quantum science explores. You mentioned that your common environment and your mind are linked in such a way that makes it hard to change. That is a psychological phenomenon named "environmental determinism" it is an area of psychological study, you should look into it a little more instead or distracting yourself with the mysterious and exciting quantum science, or better yet do actually explore what quantum science is about too so you don't confuse the two. :)
