Did you use special diesel? I would have expected diesel to set like a brick at those temperatures!! The original Fergusons were running petrol, so no problem for them. (actually, I imagine the oils and lubricants had to be switched for low temp "specials" too)

Ahh ! now I see what you've been doing! Pity we never heard about this in the UK - so much for togetherness in the EU!! ...... and you managed to wear out those tyres ? - at 20kph?. Do you h ave statistics fro fuel and oil consumption etc ?

My journey was followed by BBC World services and BBC '5 life', an early morning program I believe, at the time. : ) Met a BBC World radio crew in the midst of a famine in Southern Ethiopia and because I held a good quality film-camera (and they were intrigued) they took me along on there interviews for a couple of days... By the way, my tractor drove so slowly, the tires looked brand new when I reached Cape Town 38.000km + on the journey.... (front tyres different story, they're on a donkey cart in northern Namibia currently: )

Yes...... the BBC ....... World Service and the rest - you could wonder if they are indeed, the same BBC. I feel it goes back to this Brexit thing - British Media does not tell us much about what goes on in the rest of Europe - how it ticks - so that how we can have an idea about how you all work n play, etc - and of course the other way around, Europe talks about England when they really mean Britain, - never hear much about Scotland, Wales & N Ireland, etc ..... that's something else!
