I was born and raised in Apesokubi. I have an Akan name and do not speak any local dialect other than Twi. My grandmother is an Akposso and often recounted how she migrated from Togo to our town (many of them continue to migrate from Togo). She eventually married my grandfather, who is Akan. I attended school with some Akposso, and many remain my friends. Let peace prevail. I recall how these Togolese used to cause considerable fear and panic, especially during Christmas (I hope that has ceased). One of their 'chiefs', Ogbo Danso (you can imagine how they were given Akan names), incited trouble. Upon arriving in town, you would notice that these people have houses situated on the outskirts. Some still bear Akan names. Apesokubi controls more than six towns in the area (including Asukwawkwaw, Okane3 ase, etc.). These towns have their own chiefs, enstooled by the Apesokubi Traditional Area. As a Christian and a well-educated person, I believe we should love one another. However, the problem is that these people are unwilling to become sub-chiefs under the Akans, unlike other tribes such as the Evens and Kotokoli. Let the love of God prevail, and let us remember that we are here today and gone tomorrow.
