I'm not a Hornady fanboy, so I held onto my 6.5x55s while everyone else bought those manbun Creedmoors. Then something changed in me. I got tired of reloading to get real performance out my Swedes. I started looking around and not intending to buy a new caliber and saw this PRC. What the heck is that? Oh no the short magnum craze again....But the more I read about the 6.5 prc the more I realized Hornady had solved all my problems and pretty much everyone else that had or wanted a new 6.5mm. They replicated with factory ammunition and even bested reloading ammunition is calibers like 6.5x284, 6.5 manbun, .264 win mag. And the searched out ammo. Heck ammo is all over online so I started buying ammo first and then figured out what rifle I wanted. I sold my Swedes and bought a Bergara premier approach. With a 24 inch barrel i am getting with factory Hornady 143s 2930, Nosler 142s 2930 and Federal 130s 3100 (100 fps faster than advertised). If you look on for reference Nosler reloading data, these velocities are in the low to mid range as is what you could do if you wanted to. But the point for me was to be able to shoot factory ammo at the velocities I am already getting and not having to reload so I am happy with the result.

Yep the availability and quality of 6.5 prc ammo is pretty darn good.

Food for thought. Check out Carlos Hathcock's method for zeroing and the one shot kill. Lots to knowledge there. Also, if preparing loads for competition, know the temp of your barrel and how it reacts during a string of fire. As the barrel heats up, does the group open up, or does the point of inpact shift?

As cheap too shoot as any full power cartridge too ! 1-11" is perfect for 308win it doesn't really have the capacity to use the bigger bullets... I mean a 210 @ 2475-2500 fps max ? Yeah save the big bullets for the magnums (IMO) However the 130gr TSX will scream outta the 308... And will penetrate as good or better than almost any 165gr lead core bullet. It'd be perfect in 30-06 😉😂😂

Being a 60+ year collector of fine hunting rifles and owning hundreds of rifles over the years I have found for its price range the Tikka is the best rifle in its price range. Sako is my favorite hunting rifle and the Tikka is made at the same factor and you can tell when you shoot it because they shoot more brands of factory ammo accurately then any rifle on the market that I have seen. I reload too and then they are even more accurate some a little ad a 1/4” inch MOA!

I have a Sako A7 in 300WSM with a 24.3” barrel. My original load was 168gr TTSX over 63.5gr H4350. Yielding 3000fps MV. My new load is 175gr LRX over 67gr H100V yielding 3095fps MV. I switched to this new load in order to increase my penetration potential and increase the probability of an exit wound on broadside bull moose at 300-400m. Cheers!

If you hunt in Africa, 308win is the best, American game are soft so 308win could kill anything out there. Meat damage is my main concern on anything bigger in the Americas. 30 30 is jour best caliber ever developed if you hunt at 60 to 100 yards, beyond that you are shooting at a target not hunting 😂
