To hear Karen sing is to feel the warmth of a loved one putting their arms around you and giving you a hug when you really need one. I've always felt that there was just a hint of loneliness in her voice that would draw out my own inner doubts and make me feel that I had a friend who understood.

When recording the vocals on this song, Karen did only one take as I've heard she did on many songs in the studio. Karen wanted to do another take but Richard feeling emotional over her performance said no, it's perfect. Indeed it is.....! We love you Karen & Richard. No one can take away the music and the magic.

From what I gather, I am one of probably millions of men that feel Karen was singing just to me, reaching past all my defenses and touching my heart as no one ever has. I'm so glad I did see her in concert, but I believe I hear her best as I sit in a darkened room and imagine her looking into my eyes and singing only to me. I love you Karen.

When the Carpenters came out with their first hit album I couldn't believe how beautiful Karen's voice was. To find out that they were from Southern California and had attended the same university as I had just made me want to follow their careers even more. I want to remember her as the singer with the full rich voice that no one else has quite yet matched and may never match. I sure wish there could have been even more recordings than what we have to enjoy. She was incomparable.

In my honest opinion, this may well be Karen's finest vocal performance ever. Perfection.
