We always had a platonic relationship, but he had a silent crush for many years. I didn't know how serious he was until my partner died. He popped up by phone & soon was talking about moving near me, getting married, etc. I was so shocked I just reacted with HELL NO!! I thought he'd get the point, but he continues this game where he thinks he loves me. I shut down any hint of talk in this direction to at least try to preserve an old friendship. It's just not working & I'll have to cut him off yet again according to this. No food left 😢😢

I’m getting to know this person and even thought he already saw 3 pictures in my profile, we are texting now because he is out of the city until next week, he sends me pictures all dressed, nothing wrong with that, but when he says your turn, i say look I’m not comfortable sending pictures to someone I dont know much yet, he said I completely understand, remember most of the time women control when is the first move, when she feels comfortable, even sex, but I can’t help saying how beautiful you are, I don’t know what to tell you I’m a guy I guess 😅, I say ok got it! But next day I sent a nice picture dressed with a nice phrase, he seemed to love it, and say thank you for sending! 😅

Sometimes there's a line we have to just be patient with and not jump to conclusions too soon. Sounds like you shared your thoughts, he respected them, presented his thoughts in a positive exchange...and from his honesty you thought, 'I think I'll send him this little picture.' And then he appreciated it. Sometimes we overthink things. We make things into a BIG deal when it's not necessary and forget to have fun, remember we all say and do things right (and wrong)...but in the end we hope people judge us for EVERYTHING. At first I blocked him from facebook and instagram, but after debating what’s the best again, a day and a half later, I unblocked him from facebook (we’re not friends anymore though) and kept him blocked on instagram (because it’s the app where we used to talk) he has my phone number where I didn’t block him from, we didn’t talk there but in case he really needs me he can reach out to me there, keep the door slightly opened. This was a tough decision because he was someone I really appreciated and considered special, but I wasn’t the same for him, but I didn’t care, as long as I was there for him it was enough for me, regardless, he did do me wrong several times, SEVERELY do me wrong, hurted me, betrayed my trust, used me, etc. Even though I never did anything to him, he had trauma from his previous relationships that carried on. One day I decided it was enough when I realized how bad it was doing me and cut it off. I sent him a goodbye text and blocked a day later after thinking it throughly. Part of me hopes one day in the future we can be friends again once he overcomes his trauma and I heal from him as well, which is why I didn’t block him from my phone number and unblocked him from facebook, but as right now, I need to heal, which is why keeping him blocked only on instagram is the best choice for me, since it’s where he used to reach out to me. If he one day wants to talk to me, he will look for other ways, not only instagram. Wether we rekindle our bond in the future or not, at least I told him my feelings and my reasons before blocking, and he knows I don’t hate him, I just need to heal right now, did what is best for me, but if in the future we meet again, I’ll always receive him with respect and kindness.

I always send a pic in real time to show them I am who I say I am and everytime they don't do the same or make an excuse and then when I meet then they look NOTHING like their profile pics either they are hogs or just mid. I believe there are opportunities for ALL types of connections (with solid people) on most any dating app. It really comes down to skill and increasing your odds of success through better strategies for success (and avoiding needless pitfalls). LOL not mad at you for succeeding on FB Dating, there's great connections of all kinds everywhere, and I KNOW it's available on FB Dating. And really what is the drawback?? Man, I gave a guy my number. I think we talked once or something and I just wasn’t interested but he tried to talk me down from rejecting him and I was really put off. So I determined I needed to find another way to shut him down, because simply saying I was not interested was not enough (even thought it was). So I did allow a few days to go by, I would not talk with him live, just via text and then out the blue he face timed me-I was like WTH?! I didn’t answer, then he called, then he FT again…I didn’t answer then. At that point I text him telling him I was not interested and his actions were too aggressive, then blocked him.

Thanks for sharing. The thing is, for a guy....well they 1) need to be able to accept rejection when all they've done is gotten a number...and you've not even connected and had a good time in person, on a real date even! 2) Guys suck at reading signals, especially when they're mixed. And you sent mixed signals. It was AWESOME you stated your situation...but they you continued texting with him. THAT FUCKED HIM UP. He might have figured to move on sooner had you ignored, blocked, or decided to never connect with him again (and stuck to it). And if MAYBE you thought one day you'd enjoy keeping in contact (but not romantically)...you'd have to at least ignore him until a long enough period of time passed that this could take place and feelings had moved on. Thought I'd chime in, there's never a PERFECT way to handle every situation, but sounds like you handled it as best you could, and tried to be respectful and honest, and did so in a way you SHOULD feel good about your conscience when you sleep at night. I would argue that discovering yourself through the relationships you build with another person is more beneficial than trying to best them and take advantage of them. And, since in the end of our life we are all guaranteed to have the same outcome six feet under, there's indeed no "fun" for me to participate in the "challenges" someone else made up.

Yes, 'ghosting' is rejection. Funny thing...most professions don't EVER COMMUNICATE IN PERSON with job applicants not hired...for the same reason we don't tell everyone in our personal lives every time we reject them, why, what they did so terrible, and why we just can't keep any part of them in our lives they're so....'bad.' Nobody wants 100% honesty. That's not even a serious argument...is it?? Pretty sure you couldn't handle all the physical rejection you would hear if every guy told you why you're not pretty enough, smart enough, a good enough connection, or that you lack sexual chemistry because of X, Y, Z.... There's just a way we can do well to understand....IF YOU WANT TO FIND A ROMANTIC PARTNER...accept the Pain, Loss, and Rejection involved that can lead to Love, Family, Connection, and so much more. Good question, and I do recommend you do some of your own research. Nothing major. Many recommend cycling off and on. If you're living a healthy lifestyle I'd say you're just gonna give yourself a boost. Much like when you take a vitamin...you don't need to take it 10 times a day. Or even every day. It's just how I KNOW I am. I don't do small talk. It urks me, I can't. Maybe you need to learn more about yourself, too. Maybe for example, why you don't like the small talk (like me). Maybe it's a little correction or understanding, or maybe you realize you freaking HATE any sort of small talk like me. Rooting for you.
