The old Minecraft always felt so liminal, I wished mojang kept that atmosphere
@Nikos.23 минут бұрын
Yeah the new atmosphere just ain't what it used to be. It was really alien and cold back then, such a vibe

I could not put this game down in 2013 and 2014. I still hate mining, jump scares on top of going into the caves or strip mining for 8 hours only to find 4 or less diamonds wasted away my youth. I still miss it but Minecraft has drifted so far from what it once was.

Old minecraft (1.6 release and below) are more scary than modern versions because they are more darker and empty. With the fog and the cave noises that werent nerfed back then, it could be a creepy experience. Nights in modern minecraft are too bright.
@Nikos.22 минут бұрын
Everything in modern minecraft is generally brighter. I will say the warden is pretty terrifying though, very welcome addition imo

This was a flashback episode. So many many many hours spent in some version of 1.6, mining, building, exploring. This was when I got friends into it, and everyone had their own idea of what made a fun game. Your video is a wistful remembrance.

I never felt that the game was creepy or scary at all. It's just an action game and it was fun. There was never anything scary about Halo when I was 15 and still isn't.

I like to think that once Super War unified, they essentially buried all the historical info of pre Super Earth nations. The legionary armor mentions that it's based on the uniforms from when Super Earth was uniting Earth. Worlds were maybe starting to be colonized beforehand that were forced to join.

For me, it was so exciting to see a cave entrance...yet terrifying! I remember playing it all of on spring break with my youngest son, we built the neatest city! So fun!!

"Half-remembered dream" is a good descriptor of nostalgia. The unsettling and familiar mix as we wander a landscape devoid of the same hustle and bustle we remember as kids. Running around by yourself on a map from an old (often multiplayer) game hits that funny bone in our brain that makes us mourn our youth, think of friends who are only remembered, and the distance between Then and Now. Nostalgia can be weirdly addicting, even for a time or place we never experienced - which may explain why Liminal Spaces are popular across various age groups. As depressing as it may seem, it's good to be reminded that life is ethereal and fleeting. Our memories, even if only we remember them, are special.
