You mentioned that you were going to make a video showing what Parisienne women were actually wearing, after your November 2023 Paris trip. I can’t find it in your video list, could you give me the title? Thanks❤

I love silk clothing for traveling (including sleepwear, robe, slippers, socks and undies), it has almost no bulk or weight, doesn’t need much washing, dries super-fast and never needs ironing. Silk jersey is the best, it’s my favorite fabric of all, but pretty difficult to find in shops. If a silk item gets a crease, I just spray the creased area(s) with hottest tap water (comes out lukewarm) and let it hang dry on a hanger, it works great. I always carry an empty plastic spray bottle for this, my only travel de-wrinkling method, rather than taking a bulky, heavy travel steamer. I also take two lightweight “velvet” (flocked) hangers and one skirt/trouser clip hanger in my suitcase. That way I can de-wrinkle a three-item outfit, like a skirt, top and blazer, the night before I will wear it, and hang the items anywhere in the room (unlike with those two-part hotel closet hangers). Irons and ironing boards are almost always available at hotels, but spray bottles rarely are, so if you do want to iron something, it helps to have a sprayer already. (They can be tricky to find at local shops). Silk works best for spring or autumn travel, it’s a bit too hot in summer, at least for me. It’s also great for winter, but as an underlayer for cashmere or Merino wool clothes.

I think shoes are by far the most important thing to be worn and packed when traveling. I agree, comfort is critical for shoes. Shoes are also heavy and bulky to pack, don’t leave them as an afterthought, plan them first, then outfits that work with the three pairs you will need, one of which should be stylish sneakers, the other a super-comfy, soft and lightweight leather boot, flat or loafer, depending on the season, possibly one dressier, based on your plans for evenings and special daytime events, if any. I only pack one pair of dressy shoes, a 2-inch comfy block heel in gold metallic leather, which goes with everything (Sezane Paula Babies).

Don’t just look at weather forecasts, also check the climate averages, before you finalize packing. This is especially important if traveling for more than a week, the maximum time period for which any forecast can be even reasonably accurate. Most, maybe 90%, of weather conditions will be within those seasonal temperature and precipitation averages for the location, wherever you’re heading. Most places with cities now have about 200 years of such climate data online, might as well benefit from it. I don’t usually carry much, if anything, for those extreme weather outliers like snow in summer or a heat wave in December (Northern Hemisphere), it’s not worth it. If caught in one of these events, an a more weather-appropriate item or outfit can be purchased locally. (Going into undeveloped areas that don’t have good climate data takes a lot more planning, but there are few of those places left, even Tierra del Fuego/Patagonia has climate data).

I have a couple of trench coats with removable, insulating liners. These are great for travel in the early spring and late autumn. If it’s wet, but mild, I just wear the shell (main layer). If it’s also quite cold, I add the insulating liner. For even winter weather, a wool or cashmere sweater or jacket over my outfit and underneath the insulated trench keeps me warm enough. Perhaps not for the Arctic weather of inland boreal climates like Canada, but it’s fine for the mid-latitudes. I also have my secret winter layer - silk jersey long-sleeved top and long johns pants (I can’t wear those synthetic-fiber ones and wool is itchy). For short skirt/dress days, it’s wool tights under my (Weitzman of course), thigh-high boots, these really cut the cold, wind and rain/snow and are always comfy (I size up a half size). Thanks for the video!🙂

I love what you’ve said in this video and I’d gladly watch its extended version☺️ And it’s true that you may feel your best later in life. Physically, I feel my best now and I’m 45; bike to work, bike home, usual household activities are my „gym”. I believe more young women should hear our middle aged voice not to worry too much about passing time 😉 Style and beauty-wise, too.

It's great to have you back! I always enjoy your videos. This one really struck a chord with me, as I recently had to leave my job due to toxic environment and I'm taking time to heal from it now while looking to change directions for a healthier career. It's amazing what taking a step back to reasses can do...taking those walks, connecting with nature/neighbors/friends/yourself! Looking forward to more of your content! As to service suggestions, I think it would be great to be able to do a 1 on 1 video call to assess body type and what styles would be most flattering and then finding great second hand deals based on that and your brand knowledge. So maybe it would be a one or two time video so less time, and then you would find like 5 or so pieces for that person. Then it could continue from there depending on the person's needs/wants. Whatever you end up doing, best of luck!!

@@BriLamberson Hi Bri, as far as some of my second hand blunders go, I think some of the items just didn’t look right on me when I received them. This wasn’t something I could tell of course when I initially saw them online. Over time I am becoming more simplified with my wardrobe and I pick mostly basics. I think the challenge with basics is making them somewhat edgy in order to look current and not stale. I like your approach to styling basics, example- tees and jeans and a third layer. Thank you for getting back, I appreciate your interest!
@BriLamberson

@@lyndanelson4303 Oh totally have had that happen to me. It's the most disappointing isn't it when it's on Poshmark, because you can't return it. I love that basics can be styled in so many different ways. Do you use Pinterest as a source of inspiration?

@@BriLamberson Hi - if you receive this reply twice I apologize in advance. I thought I had replied a moment ago but I don’t see it 🤫. Yes I use Pinterest, but mostly for hairstyle inspiration. I have some overall style pics saved but I should experiment more in this area. Interesting that you mentioned Poshmark because most of my mistakes took place on that website, and yes no returns are allowed other than damaged items. I have also had some purchase mistakes on threadup as well. Is there a better way to find the style you’re looking for on Pinterest? I typically would search like “basic edgy style “, something like that. Thank you Bri!

It’s important to take breaks, though and reflect on the past and look forward to the future. I enjoy an occasional vlog along with the styling videos.
