“I’m sat on an electric chair” doesn’t sound good to me due to its common connotation 😂 (And a friendly reminded that the UK is still geographically a part of Europe, even though we’re no longer in the EU 😬) Great review, James!

Ha! I hadn't thought about it that way! The real corporal punishment would have been having to sit on a kitchen chair and work instead!

As somebody who did and does all these things i must say i got no problems at all by doing these things. They are comfortable and i have no health problems at all. The opposite is the fact, i am in great shape and have good back conditions. Hits from my side: i am a scout. In our Ring we Deal with medium distances + Medium heavy backpacks and with heavy tents and big camp-builds. Just a week ago we built a 5 meter high and 10 meter long camp gate and had to carry some thin but long trees on our shoulders. Still no problems from that side. I tell you, if the sitting postures damage my back, the damage will never be enough to affect me in any negative way.

@@BogWarThunder I'm really glad to hear it. It's really good if you can get away with not having to worry about these sorts of things. In my practice, I do see a lot of people who, through no real fault of their own, get a lot of pain. Equally I see a lot of people who get no pain at all, when I'm surprised at how badly their environment or their work set up is. So it's great to hear that you're one of those who are getting away with not having to worry about their ergonomics. All the outdoor activities are keeping you well too, enjoy!

I enjoyed James' review. Very thorough but I have a few questions. I'm not sure what part is electric. Is it only the split seat that is electric or does it have a cylinder? Is the chair a fixed height, and can I adjust the footrest? This part wasn't so clear. Is it suitable for a 5' female? What is the weight capacity?
@posturestars
@posturestars 14 күн бұрын
Ooh great questions, thanks Alison, I'll get my trusty tape measure out tomorrow and do some measuring. For now... The split seat parts are both electric, the motors can raise and lower each side independently. You can press the button to lower/raise, or you can hold the button for a couple of seconds to activate automatic lowering/raising. The automatic function will only follow through if you raise your thigh when the seat prompts you. It prompts you with a vibration, and this soon becomes second nature, like changing gear in a stick-shift. The cylinder is a gas lift not electric, so the height of the seat can be raised or lowered manually via a lever on the right hand side, on the unit where you can press the button to lower or raise the right seat pad. Unless you're switching to another user, you're likely to only need to adjust this when you first set it up. The footrest inserts into the base at the front of the base, and from then on it can be raised/lowered, as well as extended outwards/inwards nearer to the base. More to come...

From the manufacturer: The minimum user height recommendation is between 5’2” (157cm) and 6’4” (193cm). The weight limit on the chair is 275 lbs/124 Kg.

How many sessions does it take to get taller?
@posturestars
@posturestars Ай бұрын
It takes time! Most people go for around six sessions to start with, then take it from there. You 'can' be taller in one second but that doesn't last, the trick is to learn to keep it going all the time. Alexander Technique resources: www.alexandertechnique.com www.stat.org.uk www.alexanderplus.com

Good tip. That's exactly how I have mine configured so it's nice to know I'm doing it right. Do you know some people don't like arms on office chairs?!
@posturestars
@posturestars Жыл бұрын
Well done you! You're right, there are lots of people who avoid arms on their ergonomic chairs, and for a number of reasons: 1. The arms stop the chair getting close to the desk. This can be rectified by arms which are adjustable forwards and backwards. 2. The arms stop the chair going under the desk when not in use (home users often have a kitchen table where this is an issue). This can be rectified by having arms that adjust up and down. 3. The arms are uncomfortable. I see this most often on low-cost office chairs that a person or company has bought because they suit the office colour scheme, or because the chair is low-priced. The solution here is to buy a decent chair. 4. The arms are uncomfortable for a particular user, because of RSI, carpal tunnel, injury or disability. In this instance, arms can often be removed, and there are plenty of good accessibility options out there. Many spaces have tired, outdated chairs that are out of warranty, or even dirty and smelly - they should definitely look into a refresh if that's the case :)
