I like to watch old documentaries about movies and TV, over the more recent ones as I like to watch them because they help in my being able to soak up the whole atmosphere that the original fans would have experienced at the time(s) the said media was brand spanking new. With modern films and TV I don't really get that, plus moreor less every making of documentary can be summed up in a few words, which are as follows... 'We spent a lot of time and effort to doing everything on computers.' While I do not dislike CGI, it makes the documentaries pretty boring, thus I tend to just watch the actual film/episode and the deleted scenes and maybe music videos and trailers, and just leave it at that. I like the way that whenever the stars were interviewed back then tended to have a genuine sense of life in their eyes.😊 Today we don't really get that, with people in general to be honest, everyone seems to be very unhappy and oppressed zombies looking for their fix😢 Which is why I don't really watch modern media all that much, even if it is a documentary about the making of older media, with perhaps the odd exception here and there, but only every now and again whenever I am in the mood. My cut off point for most media tends to be around the late 1990s to early 2000s, unless it is something that I'm really into, such as wildlife and history documentaries or comics and novels or fan made content. If it's any good I am quite happy to watch reconstructions of lost media such as the animations that the BBC used to do of the missing episodes of 'Doctor Who' and various other old shows that I'm into that have episodes missing from the archives, in fact being able to 'watch' the lost 'Doctor Who' adventure 'The Evil of the Daleks' has only gone and made it come to life for me in a way that it didn't before when all I had was the CD version, the existing footage and the Telesnaps to go by, which was difficult as it really was a very visual story, while I do still enjoy other adventures simply as audiobooks some of the other ones are better seen and heard, rather than just heard, if you catch my drift. The reason why said that the BBC no longer make animations of lost episodes is due to the marked dip in quality of the most recent one at the time of writing, namely 'The Celestial Toymaker' of which I have seen, via one that was posted on the Internet Archive and while I liked some parts of it, the rest was just bad.... As in the new episodes made from 2024 onwards.... Just my two cents..
