I think the one shortcoming of this was how old the actors seemed. In reality Andre was only 30 years old.

He was THE best looking actor EVER on television. There will never be a hotter sexier crazybfitndude than he. Checknoutnthebopening scenea from hisnfirst TV show, Hawaiian Eye. Dude was crazy ripped in 1958!! No personal trainers, not engineered foods and vitamins. Just what his mama and daddy gave him, perfected via a hours and hours of surfing.

Quote from Kipling about Tarzan: "My Jungle Books begat zoos of [imitators]. But the genius of all the genii was one who wrote a series called Tarzan of the Apes. I read it, but regret I never saw it on the films, where it rages successfully. He had "jazzed" the motif of the Jungle Books and, I imagine, had thoroughly enjoyed himself."

I think this is quite possibly the ultimate American Novel - dark and brimming of Old Testament. I have never ceased to be amazed by it. As for Orson Wells here, he displays total affinity for the text. Brilliant.

I checked the text on Project Gutenberg Australia, and, indeed, it is called "the Avenue of the Green Throat," there too. "Throats" are mentioned a few times, especially in action scenes, but Thoats (the Barsoomian animal) are never mentioned in this particular novel. However, Thoats ARE mentioned in all three of the next Barsoom novels. Of course, it _is_ possible that Thoats have green throats. Ghek the Kaldane may have a green throat. Ghek's Thoat may have a green throat. I almost feel like we're getting into a Doctor Seuss story here ("One Thoat; Two Thoats; Green Thoat; Blue Thoats" ...).

This show had its good points. But it was ridiculous that every episode (or almost every) had West kissing a woman and fighting a bunch of guys. So repetitive, predictable, and ridiculous.
