That's not a camcorder released in the year 2000. The latest Sony models shot on digital videotapes back in 2000, and this one wasn't released until 2007, which is well after Y2K.

I have a short on how I do it! I use the dock that the camera comes with to export footage onto my computer then I reformat so that I can edit on final cut

I would imagine that’s how you’d like to store your videos to save correct? I think it would be hard to offload uploads to a phone or iPad as the wiring would get a bit complicated

The Hollywood film director Mike Figgis said lower resolution can be more impressionistic. In a sense, we bring more of our subjective perceptions along for the ride. Perhaps our minds can relax more? The documentary Hoop Dreams proves great content is not about great resolution. That documentary feels like a dream, in a way. In a good way. The audio also has a lovely quality to it in that film and works so well with the older dream-like Sony digital camera visuals. The subjective aesthetic quality of video also has much to do with imperfections of the lens glass used. That is certainly the case for this Sony camera. The Cooke Optics KZfaq channel (they manufacture movie camera lenses) is talking more about this recently in the last couple of years. In fact, some of the newer ultra-expensive digital camera made for movie making are focusing on technologies to old old-fashioned Hollywood camera lenses to once again be reused in modern filmmaking. The "perfect lens" is terms of clarity it is probably not the North Star you should be aiming for. The "nicest" images may be a better metric, with lenses chosen for desired aesthetic end result rather than perfectness. Netflix now requests films be submitted in at least 4K resolution, I believe. I think this probably creates the wrong incentives. You see on Reddit in the filmmaking subreddit all the time where users there have no idea what makes a great film and are overly focused on technical aspects that don't add to and in this case may even take from the end result and the content's effect on an audience.
