So 1 circle or 2 circle, why does it always seem to be one plane chasing the others tail! 1 or 2 does not seem to make much different. surely some should be head on?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 11 күн бұрын
The circles aren't always perfectly separated. They can be overlaid on each other, it just matters if they turn at each other nose-nose (1 circle) or nose-tail (2 circle) as to how they're described and what this means for you when fighting in it.

I know this is an old video but hoping I can get a reply! I'm starting a 262 mission where I'm already lined up on the airfield so no need to taxi, just straight into takeoff. I put brakes on and increase rpm to 7000 but then as soon as I release the brakes, the aircraft pulls hard to the left. I try right brakes to stop this but it just doesn't have any effect unless I just hold it down hard in which case I just stop turning but no longer moving. Any idea whats going wrong?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 15 күн бұрын
Roll the plane forward a few feet first before applying full power because your nosewheel is likely offset.to the side. That will help straighten it first. There is also a nosewheel brake control you may not have assigned that can help initially

6:58 I started on a Rift-S, then managed to snag a practically unused Reverb G2 for a great price - which I'm still using. That was a pretty huge jump in quality, but I was still blown away when I had the chance to try out the Crystal a few months ago on a buddy's PC. And my thought was exactly what you said: It's as if you're looking at your monitor (1440p in my case). What I said when I first used it is that the picture on the Crystal is kinda like looking at the Reverb's "sweet-spot", only that with the Pimax, the whole display *is* the sweet-spot. Slight caveat: My buddy had just received his set and probably hadn't finished with all the settings in IL-2 ... or rather, he was of the opinion that with his PC (running an RTX 4090) he should simply be able to max out everything in-game and get a smooth result. Which wasn't really the case with IL-2 ... don't remember what sort of FPS he got, but it was well below what I would call "playable". Seeing how I'm getting steady 90 FPS on the Reverb with just an RTX 4070, I'm sure this was probably just a case of fine-tuning. Overall, I'd be very, very tempted by the Pimax ... if it didn't mean an investment of ...what? 3 to 4000 Euros, all in. I very much doubt I could run this thing on my existing 4070.. :D

What about lift vector placement I.e. If you're defensive use lead to take away turning room? If you're offensive use lag to preserve altitude and slow downward movement?

No, I didn't. All my videos build on what you learn in earlier videos, so those items are both assumed knowledge from previous videos in my Hornet playlist. @@RequiemsACTL how do you ensure the proper distance from the threshold - I guess that 1.2 nm distance? when I go into the final turn at 30 degree bank angle I'm going wide and end up right of the runway
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 27 күн бұрын
@@Based_Gopnik89 when you're learning to judge that distance create a waypoint on the runway threshold and keep it active so you can see it in the HUD. Once you get used to that sight picture you won't need it anymore. You should also be evaluating how the runway looks during that final turn, your bank angle will vary a based if you see yourself overshooting or undershooting final.

I used to run the KG-12 Evo and can't say enough good things about that stick. I've since moved on to a Gunfighter Mk III/MCGP for various reasons, but I still maintain that the Evo is the best "entry level high end" stick out there. It's more expensive than a TM 16K, yes... but unlike the TM-stick, it won't break and need to be replaced after a year or so. One of the reasons why I switched was the lack of buttons on the KG-12. Don't get me wrong: This is a kinda, sorta replica of a RL LW-grip, so it wouldn't make sense to overload it with buttons or additional hats. And I have to admit that I still miss that grip sometimes when flying WW2-stuff: I don't know what it is, but there's just something about the feeling of having the same type of grip in front of you in the real world as you do in your virtual cockpit. Especially in VR. I'm not too sure about that system of throttles, though. While I have no doubt they'll be of high quality, they do seem to require quite a lot of space if you want a decent amount of functions/buttons/switches. Plus if you go with that many sub-modules, things could get pretty expensive and you might be better off buying either VKB's STECS Standard or the Virpil throttle. Overall though, I'm very happy with everything I bought from VKB thus far. So much so that I just went ahead and ordered the MCG Ultimate grip as a treat for my Gunfighter - well... for myself, if I'm honest.. ;)

WRT the MW50-pressure gauge, I'd also add that it's important to pay attention to your throttle setting when using WEP. It's gotta be either full throttle or full combat power - or, in percentages, 100 percent or 80 percent. Anything in between and MW50 will not spray, meaning you'll be running WEP-levels of manifold pressure as you would on a non MW50-equipped 109 G-series 109. And those have a WEP-limit of one minute, so you can easily kill your engine if you're not careful. If you do run, say, 90% throttle by mistake, techno-chat will give you a "low pressure in injection-system!"-warning, but I've managed to not see that warning on multiple occasions ... :D What seems to help if this happens to you is to immediately reduce power to 80 percent or lower and leave it there for a while - once you go back to 100%/WEP, do make sure your injection pressure is in the healthy range. Since I can't seem to set up my throttle's afterburner-detents properly (to have a "notch" in there letting me feel when I'm at full combat power/80%), I usually always have techno-chat on to double-check my throttle settings and to get those warnings.

The P-39L Airacobra now is my favorite dream plane. All time favorite is still the 109 (any variation), but this one adds enough difference of keeping ahead of the plane, that another type of enjoyment is to be had. I watch this video before sleep, wake up and watch this video with the first cup of coffee daily. Your flying is magnificent and modeling your precision is truly a goal every flight. 5 touch and go every morning and I am still grasshopper watching the Grand Master. Thanks again and again for the challenge. With this daily flying, retirement is indeed a blessing.

It's just a technique so you can keep it in auto if you like, but it would help if you had to go around or adjust power for whatever reason since the pitch is already set and doesn't need to change when power does.

a couple of corrections from a Hornet driver. The NATOP's (manual) calls for 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 miles abeam. And its 22 degrees angle of bank of the 180, which starts 10 seconds after to reach abeam of the ramp. The LSO says Roger Ball, not the pilot. the Pilot calls "Hornet, Ball (you see it), and your fuel state. eg. 5.5

Great video. I already knew the 'how' when it comes to AoA, and what it is used for, but the technical 'why' knowhow really solidifies the concept. Curiously, more technical knowledge somehow made it more intuitive. As someone else mentioned, other videos either quickly glossed over it or skipped it all together. Thanks, I'll be watching the rest of your FA18 videos to see what else I can pick up.
