During the Mexican-American War, in 1848, the Irish deserted the Americans and fought with the Mexicans. Hence Mexicans have some Irish blood with red hair.

It's just the U.S. who stereotypes Mexicans. My brother, father, aunts, grandmother were all mistaken for Whites. I even had to defend my little brother in junior high, because Blacks tried to bully him because he looked White. At 5'5", it was tough for me, fighting 6' Black and Whites. (But always came up on top (I had to)) In my family they're common and knew many other friends who looked Anglo. Stereotypical U.S. (ignorant)

My all time favorite! My first concert in 88. Still my most memorable moment! I'll never forget the lights going out and then hearing that opening bass line in hang tough. I've seen a lot of concerts from rock to metal, but none of them opened with a more powerful song.

We could careless about red hair or white. Remembered mex like the US were invaded by whites. So it's obvious there are red hair or whites plus blacks brought as slaves from whites

The term "latino" pertains to the "language" a person speaks, being this language a descendant of latin. So, you see, it does not have anything to do with ethnicity. Just the language you speak, and that is part of a culture. But that is as far as it goes. In heavily ethnic countries like Brazil and Venezuela you will see a really wide spectrum of people speaking the same language. So that's my 2-cents worth.

My husband and I are both Mexican Americans. I'm dark skinned with black hair with Indigenous Mexican roots while he's light skinned, freckles, and red hair with roots in Spain. We indeed come in all shades.

This onky happens here in the US. south of Mexico these type of people ate not uncommon. Imaginr if europena descent americans went to Uruguay, south of Brazil and Argentina they would feel they are less european descendants than themselves. Look at Anya Taylor Joy who is more.famous than this tick tocker

Let's not forget the "small" detail that further south of Mexico (as incredible as it may seem to you) in fact there is almost a continent and a half further south (rest of Central America and South America) and there are many more Latin people there and with white skin and some with blue or green eyes, and I know that maybe it will come as a shock to you: they live there!!! (by the way: I'm being sarcastic) 😏

I was there nearly 45yrs ago -and it stays with me. A few days earlier I visited Houston MOMA and was acosted by a Rothko they had in a room just off the entrance. I'd seen a few Rothkos in repro (books & magazines) and they'd not registered. BUT THIS!!! It 'leapt' across the 25 metres separation and my legs almost went from under me. I'd never been affected like this before (nor since). None of the others in the gallery was so affecting -but all were hundreds of times more engaging than any repro. So, you have to be there! Days later in the chapel the effect was not as strong, but still I found an hour there to be one of my most affective art experiences. Thankyou Houston!

It’s wrong to call South Americans Latinos. Real Latinos are the ones that are in Europe, I mean…Latin was spoke there for a thousand of years there. The right will be Hispanics. And as was mentioned by the host, you have the same multiculturality in North America and in South America. The history in both north and south are similar but different, British empire had colonies on America meanwhile, Spain had provinces in America. They where part of Spain in the papers. Indigenous people where Spanish citizens, even Spanish from Europe mixed with them 😊, at certain point there were indigenous people as part of royalty. Just have this metric on mind. Check how many indigenous people were supported by the British and how,many from Spaniards. And look the current number of them today in North and South.

We are nativeamericans, not latinos, hispanics, not mestizos and not any other false, colonial label. Our true and only root of both full-bloods and so-called mestizos is our indigenous root. Our true native root is the foundation of our true identity. Latinos are the white settlers from italy and hispanics are the white foreigners from spain. This is why natives need to ban the mainstream media from their households and demand that their true identity be respected becasue the media only pushes these labels as a racist agenda to try to uproot and erase our true indigenous root.
@cjc27 күн бұрын
That may be true for you and that’s ok. Many Latin Americans are multi ethnic. The majority are mestizos. Some are straight up black like in many parts of Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador due to their ancestors arriving as slaves. Many are decedents of European, middle eastern and Asian immigrants. One of my good friends is a Brazilian of Syrian heritage. South America received many immigrants from Italy, Spain, France, China and the Middle East.
@mar_dma10 күн бұрын
People that are surprised about this are just uncultured and need to research about the world a little. Mexico was invaded by Europeans, there were even Asian and African colonies, Mexicans are very diverse.
