The name Berber became associated with the peoples of North Africa solely because of the "Vandals"- who were a Germanic people from Europe, (Poland) who captured North Africa from the Romans in the mid-4th century. - Only Celtic and Germanic of peoples of Europe were called "Barbarians" by the Romans. The Vandals also sacked and plundered Rome. Hence the word "Vandalized". The Vandals "Barbarians" ruled North Africa for over 100 years and then the Roman Byzantine, Emperor Justinus and his General, Belisarius in the 5th century wanted to recapture North African and "expel the Barbarians", meaning the only Vandals from Carthage, North Africa. Before the Vandal conquest, Rome ruled North Africa for over 500 years and never once referred to the original inhabitance, like the Carthaginians, Moors & Numidians of North Africa as Berbers and or Barbarians. In fact the Moors and Vandals fought several wars. The Moors and Romans/Byzantines also fought many wars/rebellions. Now the name, "Berber" became synonymous with every peoples of North Africa, because of Christian Europe, mainly Spain, after the Arab conquest of Romanized Egypt & all of North Africa in the 6th century and then invasion/conquest of of Spain in 711 AD. The "Berber" name became entrenched during the Barbary Piracy era (1500-1820s?), when Muslim pirates from North Africa raided Europe and enslaved millions of Europeans.

I lived in Morocco for over a year and my wife is Moroccan. Amazigh people are not defined by either being black or white. The ones by the coast or Mediterranean looking (as is reflected in Egyptian portrayals of Libyans from Medinet Habu) the ones in the mountains, are very light skinned and the ones in the south in the desert are very dark skinned. In Morocco no one looks at race like people in America do. You are Morrocan if you are Morrocan, it doesn't matter color. Amazigh people are of all different color. Some even look Asian.
@thesoulbrother863610 күн бұрын
Some "look" Asian because they are Eurasians. They are the descendants of Eurasian invaders and migrants who intermarry with the original melanated "so called blk" Africans and took on their culture and identity. The "original" amazigh were indeed melanated "so called blk" Africans who are the original/first people to occupy all of Africa.✔

Africans are those indigenous to the African Continent: They are Black people with that distinct 'African Hair'. North Africa is filled with invaders from outside the African Continent. There are no such nonsense as 'north Africans' who are supposed to be distinct and different from AFRICANS! Even the invaders (the most infamous among the invaders will gladly and proudly concede that they ARE NOT Africans! It is just too bad that not enough Africans recognize the urgent need to 'take back their Continent', rather than being 'driven into the interior' of the African Continent by the non-African INVADERS!
@so9487Ай бұрын
The individuals in your video are descendants of Ottoman Turks. The native Berbers are black, not light-skinned. The entire continent was inhabited by black people before invasions by different Eurasian groups, who also introduced numerous European slaves and concubines during the 16th to 18th-century Barbary slave trade.

That's so true, I think you've been able to shed light on this concept more and included some value to it. For the individuals used, in this modern day, we have some people who in fact do claim to have descended from the Berber tribe which includes the Somali people and some native Egypt and Morrocan. That is the reason for the use of these personalities who believed in their ancestry to be connected to Africa thus, the use of light skinned individuals.
@farouksanusi8357Ай бұрын
Sanhaji Berbers is exactly what you are explaining. I love your opinion though by the way as the question of their blackness is still very much debatable however, there's been traces of genetic discovery that linked them to Africa.

"black people" with the distinct 'African Hair'! The 'African Hair' IS one of the African's defining characteristics. Africa does not do straight hair OF ANY KIND!

To legitimize your Egyptian lineage, you would have to mix your foreign race, with the indigenous royal population. She was basically a biracial woman not Greek and not a 100% White, after all she was born in Africa why everyone keep calling her Greek shouldn’t she be called African ???

I’ve noticed something when someone considered white ruled they counts everyone that died during his reign as if he killed them all others they say well yes he killed 20 or 40 or 80 million but the other 100 million died from starvation and disease. This new history has some splaining to do.

To that I won’t answer. But it has been well documented that for example the Palace of Justice which is home to the Supreme Court of Belgium has been built by unimaginable effort of the People of Congo. The materials extracted from the ground, the transport, the construction - it all took horrible toll on lives of innocent men and women
